Richmond leaders when it comes to no injuries

I wonder how the AFL funding model works. I guess it's based on total revenue, because I'd guess WC make the most membership revenue.
But, returning to the thread topic, I doubt all this helps clubs injury-wise, because no club has been willing to go over the soft salary cap. Gone are the days of jetting off to climb mountains, which didn't help anyway.

Riewoldt is reported to be ready to return. That would make it only 3 wks missed. They have hardly any injuries, so the thread hypothesis still isn't ruled out. (It reminds me of the Conca injury last year. You could hear his screams through the mic, he was carted off the ground, and the media made a big fuss about it, but in the end he didn't need surgery, he was back before finals, and he was only ever a fringe player anyway.)
Hawthorn's injury list is growing, though O'Meara returns this round.

'After an interrupted pre-season spent recovering from knee surgery, Lynch is currently training once a week, Hardwick said.
"We imagine probably in the next month or two months he'll start to go to twice a week which will really start to improve his fitness level and his base levels from that." '

' "It's his right leg, so his good leg, (and) it's a PCL-type injury. We're not exactly sure of the extent of that but he'll miss some time, unfortunately," Hardwick told reporters.'
Ch. 7 speculate that it'll be a 6-8 wk injury.
And Astbury was on crutches Thursday.

Again, the media is wildly exaggerating Richmond's injury problems ("carnage", "seemingly never-ending injury crisis") , but no club has deep ruck cover, least of all that club.
This year casts a lot of doubt on the only possible true achievement by Richmond in 2016-7 (that they had good injury management). It's beginning to look like their zero-injury run in those years was just undeserved good luck.
