He's doing OK so far, At 3/4 time he has 13 possessions, 9 of them contested, 3 clearances and 6 tackles.

Not going to back him for the Brownlow just yet, but serviceable figures.

agreed. A really solid effort from Wills today. Did a few exceptional things and a lot of solid play.

He stood up well at a few contests early in the last when the game was in the balance, too.

A good effort from Rupe today. 7 tackles and 4 clearances.

He's not a great forward option and hopefully JDG will be back next week, but as a backup he did his job adequately today.
Well done boys!

Was better today but will need a few to get up to AFL tempo. Might only get another game before Adams will be ready to come back, assuming he will make way for him.

Great effort, and good luck to Rupert Wills. He might well get another crack next week. If he improves again, he might be either vying for a spot, or at least stamping himself as a definite back up.

For someone who is opposed to any mention of politics on Nicks, you should not be raising the issue of capital punishment.

AFL is a very difficult sport. To expect someone to slot in and star after 2 years out with injuries mainly is ridiculous. We need to build the squad and giving players like Wills an opportunity to acclimatise to senior footy will stand us in good stead. Look at Reid - good first game, bad second game and very good third game.

He did well. A couple of times, when the heat was on and the game in the balance I thought he might panic and fumble or turn it over (as fringe players generally do) but he was fairly composed and delivered well. Good stuff

Exactly right. Footy is a game of attrition. For me, it’s never been about whether Wills is best 22 or not. It’s about knowing what your going to get from him if he is needed later in year ( and you don’t determine that after one game )
We are currently getting a sample of what a 30 year old Reid can deliver at CHF and we should looking to be doing the same with Wills as a mid.
If nothing else, you need to see if he can be trusted to replace one of our starting mids who may need a week or two off. You want to go into September with fit players and Wills strikes me as the perfect call up player through the home and away if you want to hit Sept with a healthy list.

Now let me say... I'm not against frying players in the chair, as I had Blair burnt to charcoal on several occasions over the years, just don't think Willsy should be on death row any time soon!

Dyso thinks capital punishment should have universal support across the political spectrum.
