Anyone heard about or experienced this?
It's apparently some state government funded program. They dropped off a leaflet a few weeks back, I was supposed to fill it in and send it back saying how many of what type of globes I wanted replaced and someone would come round and do it. Putting in all LED globes.
i didn't fill it in, I'm happy to replace my own globes when they need replacing which isn't often.
So today while I'm out getting a haircut and having brunch, some bloke shows up at the house and wants to come in to change the light globes. Mum rightfully wouldn't let him in the house and told him to come back while I was here, he left another small leaflet with a mobile number. So I rang it and told him no thanks, I'll do my own. Don't come back.
The whole thing makes my spidey sense tingle. It may well be legit, but even then knowing how these things work there'll be some kind of payment to the person (or company) on a per house or per globe done basis, and whenever there's government money being handed out, the shysters are in the front of the queue.
Up in Toc, the local fire brigade used to go round changing light globes and smoke alarm batteries for the older people, and that's cool cos they were locals, but I'm not having some stranger who I didn't arrange, wandering through my house scoping everything out.

A few years ago, maybe 3 or 4, a guy knocked on the door, i wouldnt let him in but I took a pamphlet and researched and rang them. Apparently there is scam artists going around, which is why i wouldnt let anyone in, but this was legit. Just do it the way I did, they get commission or something so i just mentioned his name, they came and changed 56 downlights free of charge, and took the old ones away, thats the deal. Actually now i think of it it was a few months before we got solar panels, and it did make a difference to our bill.stui magpie wrote:Anyone heard about or experienced this?
