From titty-shaking RnB, to swampy Louisiana soul, Mac did it all with his own style. Truly great music man that made our lives better, and fear not p4s we will never have to be without his magic.

R.I.P.

Very sad. A legend. My older brother who plays a mean piano put me onto Dr John more than 40 years ago. Brilliant pianist.

It's goodnight Irene.

For those of you who always fancied being able to play barrel-house piano, here is Mac's guide to playing Mess Around:

And here's Swanee River Boogie:

We lost the great Rocky Erikson this week, too. The tragic genius that wrote the all time classic, Thirteenth Floor Elevators song, You're Gonna Miss Me.

Both were into voodoo and the occult so who knows, we may still hear from them  :P

PBS FM 106.7 this afternoon played a good couple of hours dedication to Dr John. The playlist on the programme SoulGroove '66 is not yet up but I highly recommend having a listen

This is the playlist for 1 June 2019 which does not feature him

Best cover of a Donovan song, since the Allman Brothers recorded "Mountain Jam" and Judy Collins recorded "Sunny Goodge Street":
