There are several. Someone generally starts one when he gets picked for Essendon or kicks a goal. There was one special day when he kicked a couple of goals in the first quarter of a GWS game a few seasons ago - multiple threads decrying oor decision not to recruit him were launched.
As to the OP, the most recent angst seems to have been caused when we didn’t use the pick we got from Footscray for Cloke to get Stewart from GWS (Essendon traded a slightly lower pick for him). Since then, he’s played 27 games at Essendon for 37 goals. He hasn’t played a senior game, though, since 2 June 2018. He played out the 2018 season in the VFL, so he was hardly setting the world on fire. He is presently missing with a persistent groin injury, thus it’s hard to assess whether he would be part of Essendon’s 22 at present. Whatever the position, 45 AFL games in 7 seasons since we didn’t recruit him as a F/S suggests that Hine got that one right. Stewart has just turned 25, so if he’s going to become the Next Big Thing, he probably needs to start showing something soon.
