We won.

We got the job done and the game was over before the last quarter even started.
Agree. Nothing can be concluded from the last 15 minutes. We were never in any danger from Melbourne. Melbourne knew it as well (Gawn's final set shot where he lined up and took forever to take his kick).
We were conserving energy in the last minutes of the game. Clearly AFL is a game of rapid psychological shifts. When Melbourne got their little burst of energy in the last 4 minutes of the game we were slow to adjust and this provoked the excitement of the two dhs in the commentary (Lyon and Hudson) who started hypothesising about the possiblity of a Melbourne miracle.
However, I actually think that conserving energy and minimising injury risk was a very sensible policy. The percentage boosting win should have been established earlier during the second and third quarters of domination. That is where the criticism should lie. But even so, with the undermanned forward line that we have at the moment, I think overall we were Ok.

Crowd would have been 40-50k, but due to the bumper snow falling on Mt Buller, most Dees supporters pissed off for the weekend.

Players won't admit they think that way. ;) Treloar hinted at it after the game, they put the cue in the rack at 3qtr time.

I disagree. We have a habit of just trying to hold on by slowing our ball movement in last quarters. A last quarter fadeout cost us a flag last year. I actually can't remember a single game this year where we have gone to smash a side in the last quarter.

Mum's in hospital so I couldn't go. And the weather was forecast to be a lot worse than what we copped during the game, so there's a big reason. It's been a long winter, why get the flu now? Rest up for the finals!

True that.
More attacking mindset would help.

Positives from this game:
1) We won. (Many were fearful before this game).
2) Checkers is establishing huge form and confidence. So good that is happening now that Cox is out for the rest of the season.
3) Trav Varcoe is finding a rich vein of form. Is he preparing one final miracle role in our finals' campaign?
4) JT played a game where he recaptured the tackling pressure and desire to hunt the ball that he showed last season.
5) Sidey playing himself into form.
6) Rupert Wills has the capacity to impose his physical presence at ground level for the contested ball. Whether or not he is as good as Sier at his best is irrelevant. He is there, and having an impact, which is absolutely essential for us.
6) JDG, Darcy and Stepho champing at the bit to return to this team.
Negatives
1) Josh Daicos possibly injured. We desperately need NMI (no more injuries)
2) Not a percentage booster, but this is outweighed by all the positive factors.

Hope she's alright. When my mum was in hospital back in 2011 and 12, I missed a few matches. I received more well wishes from people on Nicks than people I worked with, some who I knew for a long time.

Disagree. We were spent in the GF well before the final quarter.
This was a totally different situation.

I will take that and move along, nothing to see here. I was very worried pre game, I heard Pert, Deeees CEO,say they r treating this like a Final, soon as I heard that, I was concerned. very. That we won handily I take it, last qtr was bit downer, few junk time goals by dees, but im happy, we beat a hated enemy with a lot of guys out, yes, take it and move on. Next.

All the best to your Mum, cheers

A wins a win, pity we didn’t get the score line of my daughters clubs senior footy team! They won 23.24 to zip zip! 162 - O!
