We were conserving energy in the last minutes of the game. Clearly AFL is a game of rapid psychological shifts. When Melbourne got their little burst of energy in the last 4 minutes of the game we were slow to adjust and this provoked the excitement of the two dhs in the commentary (Lyon and Hudson) who started hypothesising about the possiblity of a Melbourne miracle.
However, I actually think that conserving energy and minimising injury risk was a very sensible policy. The percentage boosting win should have been established earlier during the second and third quarters of domination. That is where the criticism should lie. But even so, with the undermanned forward line that we have at the moment, I think overall we were Ok.
