Not sure if I would be as harsh Alf but the sentiment is accurate from my point of view.
In any case, one the current TV contract ends we may well see the end of 'em anyway. If North can't make a quid with 10 successive finals, a couple of flags and the best player of his era then they will be begging for handouts while they languish in the middle of the ladder.
Unfortunately the current contract gurantees they support of the ireelevant mediocity by the elite because 16 teams must play in the comp. Some clubs and the AFL may live to regret that and come renegotiation time it may be a different story.
So you may get your wish but not yet.
