Well, just hypothetically speaking, if China was suddenly vaporised, global CO2 emmissions would be reduced by 27%. Maybe these protesters in the city should be gluing themselves to the entry to the Chinese Embassy instead of Melbourne roads.
Personally, I would have told the cops to leave them glued to the road and herd the rest of them away, leaving them there. We'd soon find out how strong the glue was if there was no one to stop the traffic.

You are aware aren’t you that field of study in which paleoclimatology traditionally belongs (and still does) is geology? Paleoclimatology (the study of old climates) is fundamental to paleontology (the study of old life forms), and primarily through the fossil record it establishes, paleontology provides the metronome of geology - the time scale and the duration of each epoch. Most of the so-called climate scientists that bang their drums for climate change being a real threat are not scientists at all. I suppose you could call them ‘climate technologists’ or ‘climate engineers’ - people who fudge around with climate data in a computer model until they get the results they want, then claim “Ah ha!, see - the science is in!” But there’s not a lot of science in what they do. (They are to the study of ancient climates what psychology is to the study of human behavior, which is not much. But that’s another thread).
(By the way, its interesting how this plays out in popular culture. It is the reason why the geologist portrayed in the popular sitcom The Big Bang Theory is always derided or ignored by the other characters and presented as a buffoon, and by Sheldon Cooper as one of the ‘dirt people’. Hollywood and the mainstream media in general will not only go to any lengths to present climate change to young people as a real threat, but will also attack and denigrate both those that object to this viewpoint and even denigrate an entire field of objective science for the same purpose.)

The only thing there is consensus on is that CO2 is a greenhouse gas. From that point we diverge into a number of different realms of science as the Earths climate isn't just impacted by the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere, there's multiple factors that have an influence, most of which are totally out of our control.
The earth has had a somewhat predictable cycle of warming and cooling in the past, long glacial periods followed by comparatively short inter glacial periods of which we're currently in.
People doing the modelling for how the climate might change due to increased CO2 come up with varying outcomes which is not surprising as many seem to only be looking at the past 100 years when they should be looking at the past few million, look at the patterns and try to plug their data into that
