One million extra P2 masks ordered in response to Chinese coronavirus

https://www.theage.com.au/politics/fede ... 53tqv.html

"One million new P2 masks are on their way to replenish the smoke-depleted national medical stockpile as authorities respond to the Chinese coronavirus, which has killed nine people and infected hundreds.
...

Health Minister Greg Hunt had already dipped into the national medical stockpile to distribute 3.5 million P2 masks, which filter out small particles in bushfire smoke as well as protecting against airborne viruses, in response to the bushfire crisis that in recent weeks blanketed capital cities in a toxic haze.

It is not known how many P2 masks were in the national stockpile, or how many remain ...

A Health Department spokesman said "sufficient masks" were being held in the stockpile for use in the unlikely case of a pandemic and that the government was "working closely with its supplier to source additional stock".

"An additional one million masks will be arriving in February," the spokesman said."

As far as I know it's so far only been detected in China, so would affect people who come from there and people who've travelled there alike. Nothing to do with Korean, Thai, Indonesian people, etc.

It won't be long before it spreads to non Chinese people so you don't want to be sneezed on by anybody.
How would Siri know when to answer "Hey Siri" unless it is listening in to everything you say?

Yep. I don't know why anyone would be happy to be sneezed on by anyone of any ethnicity.

2. It will soon spread so you don't want to be sneezed on by anyone, to
3. I don't know why anyone would be happy to be sneezed on by anyone of any ethnicity

Whispering is safe as long as it's through one of the masks that some people in this thread sneer at, David.

"Australian health authorities have prepared isolation units, stockpiled 10 million masks and are developing a one-step test for the deadly coronavirus as Chinese officials seal off a city of 11 million people in a bid to contain the spread of the pneumonia-like disease."
