Also, Deval Patrick is apparently pulling the plug (what a waste of time that was!) Gabbard and Steyer are really the only also-rans left now; it’s a six-way race between Biden, Bloomberg, Buttigieg, Klobuchar, Sanders and Warren.

That’s 2/2 for Sanders now, by the way, given he also won the popular vote in Iowa (and the delegate count seems horribly compromised and may never be conclusively resolved). Big chance of picking up the next two states, too.

Though it’s ultimately pretty meaningless, interesting to note that Bill Weld took nearly 10% in the Republican primary. So while they’re only a small minority, it seems there are still at least a few Republicans who aren’t happy with Trump and want him gone.

Warren's support has cratered but they seem to have gone to Buttigieg and Klobucher rather than Bernie like most thought they would.

Sanders may have a ceiling on primary voters, Biden and Klobucher voters would overwhelmingly go to Buttigieg and Warren's seem to be split. The rest of the candidates that are left are irrelevant.

The latest national poll is delectable:

Sanders 26%
Biden 16%
Warren 13%
Buttigieg 13%
Bloomberg 11%
Klobuchar 6%

Bloomberg, Buttigieg and Klobuchar are going up, Biden and Warren are going down. As long as those five fail to distinguish themselves and take a stranglehold on the "moderate" vote, the road is clear for Bernie.

It's going to be interesting.

Not that I think Sanders will actually be POTUS, but what do people who vote for him think he would actually do?

He's been in public office for 40 years and in that time has achieved (as far as I know) precisely bugger all. Yeah, he's been consistent, he's been singing the same song for 40 years, but that's because none of it has happened?

Surely no one thinks he could be POTUS and magically get stuff through congress?

At least Democrats are recognising that Biden is on the nose. That's praiseworthy in itself.

Which centrist would be the best sidekick for Sanders? Klobuchar is the smartest by a margin, but how they come together is an interesting thought experiment. More brazen acts of criminality by the Creep-in-Chief could do the trick.

I like Warren's credentials and CV as a doer, but someone in the NYT rightly noted she comes across as exasperated rather than inspirational. Regardless of policy views, I don't think she can overcome this as it looks baked into her communications.

Only someone of Sanders' likeability has any chance of overcoming the virtually unbeatable advantage of handouts to multi-millionaires and billionaires under the third-world Citizens United ruling.
