Steele Sidebottom.
Not really. Steele isn't overly active on IG. He only follows a number of Pies players:

Tom Wilson
Lynden Dunn
Callum Brown
John Noble
Chris Mayne
Brayden Sier
Jeremy Howe
Isaac Quaynor
Mason Cox
Taylor Adams
Brayden Maynard
Scott Pendlebury

And the Office CFC Instagram.
The point here isn't about who follows whom, but more the idea the Beams is on the outer because no one follows him on IG. It's A). Not true at all, and B.) Completely Irrelevant.
Plenty of players across the league don't follow all of their teammates.

What I find interesting is that there is no mention of Collingwood, AFL, or football at all in his IG bio. He seems to have distanced himself from the football world in a way that appears a return to football is unlikely.

As I said earlier, I think there is much more to the story. Perhaps the club has known he would be retitirng for some time. Maybe that's why his deal was front-end loaded. Is it possible all of this was part of the plan for Dayne when he asked to be traded back to Collingwood? The conspiracy theorist in me thinks Eddie did him a favour by getting him out of a situation not conducive to a good mental state. My theory is that the 4 year deal was fron loaded to ease a bit of monetary pressure Dayne had been under, with the last 2 years only existing on paper. If Dayne retires, we don't have to pay the last 2 years of that contract and we have more money to sign JDG and Darcy.

It'd look suspicious if we got him back on a 2 year deal worth $2m, but a 4 year deal for $3m seems a lot more reasonable for a player of his calibre, especially if you know you're never going to have to pay that other $1m.

But this is all speculation.

I concede my statement overcooked the extent of the vacation of players in following him on on social media.
I think Steele's absence is symptomatic of the situation from what I have been made to understand about the situation.
My broader point stands. Beams won't be back playing at the club and there is a degree of disgruntlement around the club towards him. Those bothering to note his absence at training, including in 'best 22' lists and posing the question about mid year returns and the like can give up on that line of thinking.

If this is true why would the club front-end a deal when they know that the player is leaving? That is typical of the sentimental attitude that prevents us from being a truly successful club. Sentiment sells memorabilia and should be left in the marketing department not Football Operations.

As conspiracy theories go, this is right up there with fake moon landing, the grassy knoll and CFC's Blue Print for success :D

Well it just wouldn't be a good old-fashioned Collingwood pre-season without an incident. Beamsy was in a car accident last night and taken to hospital, but released.

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/col ... 540r5.html

Collingwood star Dayne Beams was involved in a car accident on Thursday night in Melbourne's eastern suburbs.

Beams, 30, was taken to hospital following the accident but did not suffer any serious injuries, sources said.

No one else was injured in the incident.

Collingwood have not yet confirmed details of the accident.

Beams, who turned 30 this week, has been on leave from the Magpies as he deals with the mental illness issues that saw him take a lengthy break from training and playing during 2019.

More to come

One thing to the next for this poor bloke. Hoping it is a genuine accident and not related to his mental health.

Should that be “...the Mods team aren’t” or are both “isn’t” and “aren’t” grammatically acceptable?

“team” is being used as a singular noun. “Isn’t” is correct.

I have no love for Beams, but this is a sad situation.
Witnesses have claimed Collingwood star Dayne Beams was unconscious for as long as 10 minutes following a car accident in Melbourne's east.

The footballer was taken to hospital with minor injuries after his car struck a pole on Park Road at Donvale yesterday.

Photos obtained by 9News show emergency services at the crash site about 4.45pm and a damaged Kia SUV.

Witnesses said the car's airbags went off and the 30-year-old was knocked out by the impact.

The crash also triggered a blackout for local homes for hours after a roadside power pole split.

9News understands the power returned at 12.30am this morning.

Victoria Police spokeswoman Scout Rigoni said the exact cause of the crash was under investigation.

"The only occupant of the vehicle, a man aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital for observation and assessment," she said.

The club issued a statement today, confirming Beams had been injured in a car crash.

"Collingwood can confirm that Dayne Beams was involved in a motor vehicle accident yesterday afternoon," the statement read.

"Dayne was admitted to hospital with minor injuries from the incident. He remained in hospital overnight."

No one else was injured in the accident.

Beams, who celebrated his 30th birthday on Wednesday, has been absent from the Magpies for several months as he deals with mental health issues.
