Winter Olympian Alex "Chumpy" Pullin has died in a spearfishing incident at Palm Beach on the Gold Coast.

Key points:
Paramedics said Pullin was found wearing a weight belt and with spearfishing equipment
Lifeguards spent up to 50 minutes trying to revive him on the beach
The 32-year-old has represented Australia in three Winter Olympic Games, and was flag-bearer in 2014

The 32-year-old Australian snowboarder was found by a snorkeller on an artificial reef this morning.

Only 32. Shit. By all accounts a hell of a nice bloke apart from being a 3 time Olympian and world champion.

Preston is survived by her husband John Travolta and their children: daughter Ella, 20, and 9-year-old son Benjamin. Son Jett died at age 16 in January 2009

She played Nick Beams wife Ann in Nothing To Lose which is one of my favourite films.

Her other better known films include; Mischief (1985), Twins (1988), Jerry Maguire (1996), The Cat in the Hat (2003), What a Girl Wants (2003), Broken Bridges (2006) and Old Dogs (2009).

Bizarre. You'd think someone in his position would have a lot going for him. Perhaps it was drugs or mental illness. Perhaps his position came with its own set of unique pressures that he couldn't overcome. Life is hard.
