It is a truly sad day when the soul of the board feels a need to leave.
I know nothing of the incidents, so I guess I have no right to comment, other than to say I've only met Joffa once, but his posts here seem to be reflective of the man. If the same can be said of SG...just re-read the vitriol and take it from there.
Joffa - the longer yours & Emma's absence is, the poorer we here will be for the expereince.

I've never met you Joffa but I have read your thoughts and opinions on this board for a long time. It is very sad if iot has come to this but you will decide for yourself what you will do. All I can say is you must do what you must do as a parent and as an individual.
Your passion is unquestioned as is your motivation. People will disagree with some of your thoughts at times but if they question your motives they are surely mistaken.
I hope your passion and committment for Collingwood never subsides and I hope, when the time is right, you make a comeback and grace us with your opinionated (j/k) posts.

It may seem to be thin-skinned of Joffa to bail out because of the postings of one person who, incidentally, only registered yesterday, but it's obviously what he needs to do and we need to respect that.
We all know that Joffa has been defamed mercilessly over a period of months and both he and Emma have suffered because of this. One of the things that has enabled them to carry on has been the community of people here, they have always had a haven to retreat to.
I allowed the haven to be violated yesterday. I could have deleted BeckyBondage's post and any subsequent posts as soon as they hit the board and he/she and I would have been the only people to know of their existence (I can keep that up all day).
I gambled on the closeness of our community and made a conscious decision to allow the posts to remain. I felt that if the issue was to be resolved the safest place to bring it to a head and deal with it was here where Emma and Joffa have the support of their friends.
I'm not sure if I had the right to make that decision, but I did make it and I think the outcome has probably justified the decision; the support for Joffa and Emma has been unconditional with not one negative reaction.
A couple of days ago Joffa said in a post that no matter what happens he can always come back here and be amongst family. He obviously feels that that has changed and it's not safe here at the moment, but he's wrong - the support of the people here has been unanimous and overwhelming and has proven that this will always be a safe haven for any member of our community.
Let's give him a couple of weeks off and then I'll go get him - I'll drag him back kicking and screaming if I have to.

Well, obviously I can't speak for everybody, Joffa, but I don't think I'm making any great leap of reasoning when I say you have the unequivocal support of everybody whose lives your touched, either through the Board or in person.
A break can actually be invigorating, so there may be some good which will come out of this. That I can say from experience, as I often try and get away for a bit to recharge the batteries.
Overall, though, try not to let the bastards get you down for too long. The only way some people can achieve any measure of stature is to try and tear down others. Don't give them that satisfaction.
