Anyway, I just won $120 (off a $40 bet I put on Biden back in January). My run of correctly assuming the worst continues.

i remember the Truth and the headline "Collingwood star in major court drama"

Turned out that Rene Kink through a chiko roll wrapper out of his car window at a mall in Greensborough and was fined a hundred bucks for littering. Apparently both the magistrate and junior copper where a bit overwhelmed when Frank Galbally represented Kink.

I think either way we're going to witness some epic dummy spitting

I couldn’t give two shits who the American President is, most of the same people obsessed with US Politics complain about the fact Australia and the US have close ties. Hate the county but obsessed by them.

But I really hope Trump wins solely for the dummy spits and melts, it will make ScoMo win last year look like a normal day of sooking for the left, it will be priceless

^ If you think "the left" are sooks, just wait for the reaction on the other side if Trump loses.

(Meanwhile, those of us on the left who saw our preferred candidate get flattened by the party machine can enjoy a bit of schadenfreude either way.)

The "Left" are sooks, that should be undisputed. There are people still struggling to cope with Trump being POTUS.

The Dummy spit on the right/Repuplican side will only come from Trump himself , I don't know why you think his supporters will suddenly angst up. Trump is likely to contest the result and drag shit out as long as he can.

Meanwhile, if the Democrats lose (and it's up to them to lose this, if they play it right they win) then the collective wailing and gnashing of teeth will be truly impressive

It's funny when the media talks about how the next president will be charged with the task of reuniting a divided country. Sheesh talk about setting them up to fail.

^ I find it amusing seeing Democrats portray the years pre-Trump as being one of unification and prosperity.

Trump got in partly because Obama was a failure as president.

If Biden wins, he's not going to change anything. He'll be lucky to last four years.

I loved Trumps comment about if Obama did such a good job he wouldn’t be the President right now, very true.

Of course it's true.

Clinton's policy agenda was largely the same as Obama's except for some small differences.

People who don't live in a country also have an outside looking in view that doesn't always match what people who live there see.

It's easy to take potshots at Trump, a fair few people are going to vote for him whether he wins or not and insulting their intelligence says a lot about the person doing the insulting

example 2, NZ. Prior to Covid19 everyone in the world loved Jacinda, except most Kiwis. Her domestic politics weren't doing her any favours. Covid19 and the way she managed it may just get her elected in her own right, which was very unlikely 6 months ago

^ A ridiculous comparison. Ardern was doing fine in NZ prior to Covid. She was behind in the polls, but not by much, and another election victory was far from out of the question. Compare, for example, with the Abbott and Turnbul governments here in Australia: both were unpopular, neither one was anywhere near leading in the polls right through their terms, but (as governments often do) they managed to squeak in a win at the last moment. Both were way more unpopular than Ardern.

Secondly, you are pretending (for some reason best known to yourself) that the Trump government is in any way a normal one. It isn't. It isn't even close. Trump is a madman. Everybody in the whole world knows that, all except for a deluded few, mostly in the United States. He lost the vote against Clinton (3 million votes behind even that dreadful candidate!) and stumbled into office purely because of the problems with the US electoral system. (It is primitive and quite often doesn't elect the most popular candidate.)

Since then, Trump has been the most unpopular US president ever. Other presidents have gone as low in the polls as Trump for very short periods: not many and not often, but no-one - not one single president - has ever been so consistently unpopular. Not even close.

His massive mismanagement of the Coronavirus crisis, his incompetent and uncaring oversight of the deaths of getting on for a quarter of a million Americans now, has only served to make him even more unelectable.

He is gawn. Even he knows it now.

It’s a fantasy, all right, and fantasy is all that’s driving the bus at this point. I think I’ve said it here before, but I’ll say it again: Biden is the one running the real Make America Great Again campaign. It seems like most Americans have given up on the future and just want to slip into some imagined golden age of one kind or other, whether it be revitalised manufacturing industries, cross-party respect and cooperation, America as the world’s moral guiding light or a national identity based on jingoism. It’s going to be a brutal morning after.
