I hope you're right LH. The kid is a massive talent, but seems a tad immature. If he can take a leaf out of someone like Pendles, and become more professionally focused, he could be one of the very best players in the comp.

No, I reckon it'd be the opposite. Apart from the nonsense he and his mates send each other on SnapChat, they don't seem to be that interested in it.

I think getting a part-time gig at Woolies helped him understand about earning money, and that if he wanted something as opposed to needing it he'd have to pay for it himself. All of a sudden his idle time wasn't his own.
Then he took to golf like many kids do with sport or a hobby at a young age. He lives in country NSW and they have a very good junior development program. Mentors are important at any age, but he found some good ones at the Club.
He now alternates his part-time work with Woolies and the pro-shop. All while finishing off his HSC. The HSC was doing his head in a bit, I just told him it doesn't define him, it's simply a stage.

Not suggesting Stepho get a job at Woolies or the local pro-shop
 , but a fresh focus / objective might be just the thing as he probably achieved his dreams so early he might need a new challenge. Getting selected each week was a given. I'd expect the Club is all over this, sometimes it takes a few 'discussions' before the penny drops. It certainly did for me at a similar age.

The management of Stephenson by the coach has me confused.

Got dropped for the second time in 4 rounds last week, I imagined that would be him done for the year and yet one week back playing in the environment of a scratch match was somehow meant to finally sort out the problems that have plagued him all season.

Unless something magical occurs in the second half the result of his selection will play out like everyone should have expected.
He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD!

Stevo looked fine before the game, so it’s a rabbit in the headlights thing. It happens, and once you start thinking on it you make more mistakes. He’ll be right. Edit: not so sure after that goal, strangely

Did everyone run up to him after that goal? He didn’t look excited, but I’m not going to speculate if there’s a rift

Hardly anyone went near him, shame. I guess we’ll need a new small forward next year

It appears that Stephenson's goal was actually touched. That explains the lack of celebration

He looked utterly disinterested prior tot he game in the warm up - wish I’d had filmed it because I could barely believe my eyes. His efforts in one particular warm up drill moderated by Sando we’re just deplorable.

Did anyone notice the other players , NOT getting around him when he kicked the goal.?? Almost like an obligatory pat on the pack and that was it. I get the impression he is on the outer with the playing group.

It wasn’t a goal. Was clearly touched. Even he gestured as much.

That explains why it looked so weird. Poor commentary by 7, I can’t even recall them mentioning it.

I did wonder this year if he would be at the club in 2021. His body language was so flat.

I wouldn't be shocked if he was at the club. I also wouldn't be shocked if he was moved on. His best is great ..but like more then a few at Collingwood I get the feeling "off field" standards might not be up to scratch.
