This is a repost from my own Board, which I thought I should put up. It was posted by a Swans' supporter who bumped into Eddie at Colonial.
Caught him in the lift at Colonial on the way home from the game last night. The doors flew open, and there was the great man himself looking a bit flustered. We were half cut, and said hello to him, but he told all five of us to get a hurry on into the lift. For a couple of floors, we mercilessly took the piss out of him, not knowing why he was in such a panic. We heard the news about an hour later while knocking the froth off a few more.
Sorry Ed. In the words of the Mentals, "I didn't mean to be mean."
jaworski
Thought that was nice of him (jaworski) and shows that not all opposition supporters are totally without feeling and civility.

My thoughts are with you and your family Ed. This is definately a trial for you all, but I was heartened to see you on Millionaire last night, battling through it.
Even though you lost photos and videos, you still have memories in your heart.
You have put your soul in the CFC, so if there is anything the CFC Family can do to help you at this time, just let us know. We will be there for you.
I am sure that the love and strength of everyone will get you and your family through this time.
Kind regards
Melsa5

Eddie,
Shattering news. You certainly put up a brave face Monday night (really Sunday night - just hours after the fire). You were even making wise cracks on W-W-T-B-A-M. You are all class.

Mr President,
I cant imagine what must be going through your head at the moment after losing all your valuables. At least you have all your family and memories and thats something that no one can take from you. It must be good knowing that you have so many peoples support when you are going through a hard time.
Good Luck

Eddie,
On behalf of the NP and myself that make up the Northernarmy website. We wish to add our commiserations to you after this event. We are glad to hear that your family is not hurt in the physical sense. However, as most of us know the mental anguish is another matter. Please be assured that all Collingwood supporters will be there to help and uplift you and your family. It is not the things like material possesions that is hard to replace after a tragedy of this type, but the memories and endearments shared as a family within our four walls that we all call our homes. Our prayers are with you and may God bless you and your family.
