How often did Geelong travel compared to us? They just looked fresher and sharper . And did they travel from the hub to the Gabba a day earlier like we did?

Quote from Slangman: " imagine what Fagan would do with a player like Stephenson". Yep. Says it all.

The last thing I want to see is this club go into 2021 with the same old coaching group and the same old playing group trying to grunt out 3 point wins by kicking 7 goals every week. If that happens again, in the words of Malcolm Blight, "I'll spew up!"
Terry Wallace bro!
Damn! You're right, was trying to match the man to the quote and buggered it. You sure MB didn't say that at some point??
Well, Malcolm did make that classic psych-sledge about "pathetic Pittman" back in 1997 to motivate the bloke; which evidently worked on grand final day.

He might be injured.
But if he plays he gets judged on that performance.
And on that that performance tonight and the last few weeks.
He is pathetic... full stop.
I’ve been saying that since half way through the year.
Unless he is carrying an injury (I suspected a groin) he was bloody terrible. Something is up if he is not injured. His body posture and body language was bloody awful. Something isn’t right with him.
Well if he is injured why is he picked?
If you put up your hand to play then you are considered to be fully fit.

God I hope it comes out there was an injury, if not I am going to despair over the next 7 years.[/quote]

That was our first mistake in 2020. Giving him 7 years at a huge cost was nonsense. I would have happily pissed him off to Adelaide and got another tall. Still not too late to correct the situation because he was awful tonight (assuming that he was fully fit).

Totally agree. That is why I’m searching for a reason for his downward trend with form. Otherwise I have no frigging idea at all

Many blokes play AFL with hernias or recently diagnosed prolapsed discs in their backs/spines, all of which impact their agility, to make them look a shadow of what they were from the season previous....
That's my guess, and I'd be stunned if it was disclosed as anything other.

I am startled by all the rancour against Grundy.you cannot fluke the form he has had over the last 2 years.
He was clearly mismanaged this year.
Again, i think it reflects a lack of confidence and stultifying lack of imagination -and care- from our coaches and selectors. They were clearly too scared and unimaginative to find a way to rest Grundy at some stage.

Pretty painful loss.

If there's a bright side, it's that a team can't lose a final like that and just roll into the off season looking forward to next year. It forces everyone to have a hard look at where we're at and that's something we really need to do.

If we'd lost by five points it'd be too easy to think that we were unlucky and on the right path. Being smashed like this is going to light a fire underneath everyone.

Hopefully.

Bucks saying speaking to some players in the second qtr he got the impression they’d given up. He obviously spoke to them so it’s up to the players to respond, but once they had their sights on losing and thinking about holidays it’s hard for a coach to do much else.
