My guess is that Stephenson will still be at the club when Buckley isn't.
Hummm idk, although I do know they 'the brains trust' must be getting pretty desperate so I guess just about anything is possible.. my feelings is we will trade out Treloar, Stephenson, Phillips and maybe Cox?
Why would they attempt to trade out Stephenson now? He is one of the few in the team that has elite talent and has a large upside.
He came back into the team after glandular fever and no pre-season, played forward and was able to kick goals early before he appeared to tire and wasn't able to run games out. So of course, move him to the midfield and make him run much more, wear him out, destroy his confidence, reduce our goal kicking capacity, then drop him. Cunning plan.

I'd keep him myself but there must be something they either a) dont like about him, or b) the possible wealth they could get - maybe with a combined trade? Who knows - right now just about everyone is totally in the dark?
I’m not too sure about this but Barrett does get a few right too (and like a lot, gets a few wrong).
He went early this year about Ben Brown being shopped around and North denied it. He stuck to his guns and was correct.
He went very early with Beams back to Collingwood and Brisbane flat out said it wouldn’t happen (3 weeks later however...).
I think there is some truth in this, however, I hope it doesn’t happen.
The trade period isn't the point of the season when clubs look to tank mate.
Honestly, Stephenson would need to be a total lost cause to even entertain the idea of trading him.
He's had a whirlwind introduction to life as an AFL player across his first 3 seasons and while he is to blame for the sanctions placed on him last season a preseason bout of glandular fever, hub life due to a worldwide pandemic and a player still coming to terms emotionally with his public shaming are all plausible reasons for his performances this year.
The reality is in his one full uninterrupted season to date when he was healthy and confident he won the Rising Star and played off in a Grand Final.
Up until the moment he received his suspension no one on here was bemoaning his form or lack of physicality.
Yes he put in some unacceptable performances this season, I couldn't hide my disappointment at times either but the idea of trading him never entered my mind.
Unless the club have been hiding some serious issues from we the members and supporters it's truly pathetic the notion we might look to wash our hands of this young man after just 3 years in the system and 1 poor season.
What would that say about our culture if such a young talent isn't worth fighting for and we don't endeavour to bring him back to his best?
Why can’t the club be more transparent? Otherwise you will always have this conundrum we have - whatever news that hack footy journos don’t know, they will make up. Has happened for decades. This mongrel Barrett has been the king of hack journos for years, just making shit up to have a headline that meets the end of selling papers or gaining high ratings. If Collingwood want to trade a player it becomes public knowledge sooner or later anyway otherwise no other club would know who is available in order to make a bid
Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine!

He actually is impeccable with his news. Not a "look at me" headline grabber like "Trust fund baby" Tommy Browne or "not a chip off the old block" Two phones Tony Sheahan.
