2020 US election results

At the moment, if the likely vote holds, Biden will have 306 electoral college votes and Trump will have 232 (he should win 3 in Alaska and 15 in North Carolina).
Biden has the most votes ever in a presidential election and leads the popular vote count overall by over 3.86 million votes. To put that in context, that lead is more votes than Trump got in total (not the margin - his total vote) in the whole of Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Idaho, Utah, Alaska and Kansas. That is, Biden leads by more than the entire vote Trump received in 9 States that delivered him 36 electoral college votes.

Scary he had so much power, just reading about him what a nutjob! And he just lost his lawyer!Tannin wrote:Yes David, for real. You have been hyperventillating about the media conspiracy to ignore Bannon's Biden lies (all except for the Murcoch scumrags, which would print anything) and now he is banned from Twitter for calling for both the director of the CIA and Dr Fauci to be beheaded and have their heads placed on spikes outside the White House.
Nice chap.
You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either!
Here's a useful note from Associated Press on the prospects of any recount changing the result in any State:
https://apnews.com/article/ap-explains- ... 788e8e601cElectoral research conducted by the AP found there have been at least 31 statewide recounts since 2000. Three of those changed the outcome of the election. The initial margins in those races were 137 votes, 215 votes and 261 votes.
Among all 31 recounts, the largest shift in results was 0.1%, in the 2006 race for Vermont’s Auditor of Accounts. This was a low turnout election in which the initial results had one candidate winning by 137 votes. The candidate eventually lost by 102 votes, for a swing of 239 votes.

Surely now anyone that supported Trump or even hoped that he would win would now admit they got it wrong?
Trump will destroy the Republican Party and not give a shit about it. The Trump family needs to be called out by all and publicly shamed.
Hopefully the Nicksters on here that supported him on here admit they were wrong?

A pity. I was such a fan.Tannin wrote:Yes David, for real. Looking at fivethirtyeight's last forecast before the election, things have basically gone as they projected, save that they thought Biden was "slightly favoured" to win in each of Florida and North Carolina and also in the Maine 2nd electoral district. They projected that Pennsylvania would be the tipping point for the 270 votes and took the view that Biden didn't need to win any of (going in order from the most to least marginal) Georgia, Maine 2nd, North Carolina, Florida, Arizona or Nebraska 2nd.
Things may still not pan out precisely as fivethirtyeight's remaining projections indicated - but I actually think they do a pretty good job of dealing with how things might pan out and correcting for potential errors in the polling (which, of course, they don't do). I think their kind of probabilistic forecast - rather than the naive "polls say Biden wins by 8%" - is the way of the future.

Nevada has packed it in for the night but figures are still coming out in Pennsylvania, where Biden now leads by 19,382. To put the trend there in context, Trump was ahead by about 78,000 votes around this time yesterday, so that's nearly a 100,000 vote turnaround. Of course, at one stage Trump led the Pennsylvania account (IIRC) by about 690,000 votes.Pies4shaw wrote:Biden now leads Pennsylvania by 16,438 votes and Nevada by about 22,500.
Update (12.55 pm): the Biden lead in Pennsylvania is over 20,000, now.

Trump is dead meat and playing a dead hand. A decent candidate would soothe, admit defeat and concede with an element of good grace. However, Trump is only about himself and always has been. Speaking of has beens, dead man walking.

That would be nice, but I can’t see it happening. The Trump supporters I’ve seen on the internet are more like cultists than followers of a party or an ideology.Thet just can’t accept that there is anything wrong with their spiritual leader and will never admit that they were wrong about him,no matter how badly he behaves,KenH wrote:Surely now anyone that supported Trump or even hoped that he would win would now admit they got it wrong?
