A blitz on enforcement, apparently in metro and regional Victoria, particularly focusing on retail and hospitality. 121 instances from 784 business visited yesterday resulting in infringements, follow-up or warnings.

Went out for a family members 21st last night about 20 on two tables. Lucky for us the venue was 24.9 km away. What was interesting was to see the Police check numbers inside and out: all good, the place was busy.

Better results yet still we have more restrictions

It’s a good incentive to go shopping in NSW and support their local businesses

Wonder what the plan is in Victoria on Christmas Day? Door knocking homes to count how many people are there and ensuring everyone is wearing masks?

Wearing a mask is easy, I have to wear one all day when working and I wear glasses and hearing aids. If you have been wearing them when you should be you should be used to them by now!

All I know is I had really bad headaches after mandatory mask wearing came in.

Since leaving Melbourne and being able to go outside without a mask, go shopping, walk around town, play cricket etc all without a mask, no headaches

Now the only time I have to wear a mask is if I go to the local shops for a small shop so not worth crossing the border. Life is so much easier and I feel much better.

So with having to move back to Melbourne this week, I was really hoping for some relief, but no such luck. I suppose there is a one in 10 million chance that someone passing on the street has Covid without knowing and the one in 100 million chance I could catch it in that fleeting moment means we all must suffer

Wearing a mask caused cancer, diabetes, and blindness. Soon as I took it off I was cured.

I have to wear it everyday at work & it’s a pain but a small inconvenience compared to spread. End of story.

Yet you work in a high risk workplace, masks are going to be around in high risk places for a while, that’s fine.

But having to wear one to avoid the one in 100 million chance of catching it whilst outdoors in an area that hasn’t had an active case in a long time is completely unnecessary and ridiculous.

I did for 20 years. Now I sit behind a desk, with a headset on have a friggin mask & telephone triage: patients, relatives, police, child protection, doctors, psychiatrists anyone; since the advent of Coronavirus. So I know what it’s like and my work environment is basically a call centre made up of “senior clinicians” who are decision makers in effect for acute psychiatry.

Lets just be happy that we have day release. While we were locked up for 4 months, NSW was open for business including managing our share of international travelers returning to Australia.

Yeah they have more active cases, they're constantly bringing in new ones. We had to stop international flights and lock up the state for 4 months to get back to where NSW was (and we were )5 months ago.

Just in case anyone else has the urge to brag how well we're doing against NSW remember this. NSW has had a total of 53 deaths and 4500 cases and they've been open for business since March.

Victoria has had over 800 deaths and 20,000 infections. Nothing compared to the US or Europe, but compared to the rest of Australia and our geographic region, fkn awful.

Exactly, its like some people will always drive 5ks under the limit, others will go a little bit over knowing you'll avoid getting pulled over staying within 10ks There are rules and there is common sense.

Plus as Sutton said today, given allegedly 20% of people end up in hospital, there isn't a large number of unknown cases out there as no one is presenting with serious symptoms.

But its a good comparison with NSW, where would you rather be? In Victoria with lots of restrictions and having to wear a mask everytime you leave the house, or if you're a real rule follower, wear a mask in your own home... or in NSW where there are far less restrictions, no masks needed.

Both have about the same likelihood of catching Covid. NSW is proof you can keep things going whilst still getting cases and avoiding mass outbreaks with competent contact tracing and without locking up 6 million people.
