If they're offering pick 26 for a player they view as worthy of a $500k per year contract Collingwood must have absolutely nothing to play with in terms of negotiating power. Well and truely a fire sale.sherrife wrote:Not even getting both of them. Just pick 26 at this stage...

My (extremely solid) understanding is that Stephenson has agreed to terms with North (5 years for $2 million) and is going PrOvIdEd the draft picks are agreed to by the Pies (and North).
I hate breaking this news, but I call it as I see it (or hear it). I hope that my source is mistaken but they are usually 'on the money'.

Yes, the move on Stephenson is totally incomprehensible to me. From the outside, it looks like madness has taken a grip internally.warburton lad wrote:My (extremely solid) understanding is that Stephenson has agreed to terms with North (5 years for $2 million) and is going PrOvIdEd the draft picks are agreed to by the Pies (and North).

Agree totally, 5ftwod, with every word. Stepho is obviously not the type of footballer that Buckley values.5 from the wing on debut wrote:
I am not convinced and I doubt that many are. I don't care what the supposed "big issues" are. Millane had them, Swan had them, a bunch of our players have had them. He's a footballer not a choir member. He's one of the few players on our list with elite talent. It's up to the coaches to get that talent onto the field in terms of performance. I can certainly understand why Buckley does not like him. After all, he plays with flair and is exciting. There's no room for a player like that at our club. If Stephenson is pushed out it will be one of the greatest failures of the club that I can remember. It won't be us that has the last laugh if that occurs.
I would much prefer to see us put an immediate halt to all impending trades of players, and focus on delisting several coaches and list managers instead,.
