Wrong again. NSW has been mostly lucky so far, Victoria unlucky; Queensland fairly lucky; SA both unlucky (with their recent outbreak) and lucky (that it didn't get away completely); Tasmania unlucky to get infected by the NSW/Federal Ruby Princess debacle but very lucky it didn't spread past the NW Coast towns before they locked down.

Luck has nothing to do with it. Competance is a far better term.

Just look at the staistics, considering NSW has ben doing the hotel quarantine for the country since Victoria bailed out.

For the year, NSW has 2000 local cases and 50 deaths. Victoria has 19000+ cases and 800+ deaths.

NSW has been open for business for most of 2020 with restrictions in place that treat adults like adults, Victoria had to do a hard lockdown for months because their contact tracing was incompetant.

But yeah, it's all about luck.

It was definitely bad luck that Dans localised lockdown failed when he locked down 10 postcodes but no restrictions on the 20 postcodes scattered between then, I can’t believe it didn’t work, such bad luck!

Heading up to Toc tomorrow, just changed my Victorian Drivers licence residential address to the house in NSW. That will officially make me a border resident so by the time I want to come back I should be able to avoid bullshit.

I left the mailing address and garage address for the cars in Vic so I can keep Vic registration, so I can effectively produce 100 points of ID for residences in 2 different states and choose what works best at the time.

Gladys is doing a brilliant job so far, testing number are off the charts, positive results going down, she loosened up for Christmas then tightened up straight after. An intelligent leader showing great leadership and a nuanced approach, trusting her health team and treating adults like adults.

stui magpie wrote:I'm intrigued as where the Vic Police will have set up their checkpoint preventing people crossing into Victoria at Tocumwal.

The town is on the NSW side, where Vic Police have no jurisdiction. The river and bridge are in NSW, Victoria doesn't start until; the high water mark on the Victorian side, where it's all bush and no where for a car to turn around.

I assume that, logistically, they'll need to set up on the Victorian side , I just can't picture where they could do it.
Well today I found out and I was surprised at the good selection.

On the Goulburn Valley Highway, a little North of Koonoomoo there's a dead straight stretch of road just before the 80kmh zone which is the Toc bends, 4km of nice windy road surrounded by bush. There's room there for support vehicles and to turn around. Someone local picked that spot, no one's evading that on 4 or more wheels

Well she’s doing a fine job so far, 15 cases one day after a week of single figures and everyone starts losing their minds.

If this is an out of control outbreak and second wave, then we might need new terminology to describe the Dansaster!
