Remember when Victoria had 600 active cases of Covid and Dan Andrews said this?
Mr Andrews reiterated that people who did not have coronavirus symptoms should not be wearing face masks.
"The advice has been very consistent from the Chief Health Officer of Victoria, wearing a mask is wasting a mask, that's a mask that won't be available when it's actually needed."
But now we have 30 active cases the health advice has completely changed.
NSW is going along nicely, proving how to competently manage a small number of cases without locking up an entire state. Danny boy could learn a thing or two from her when he gets back from QLD. I guess he's still doing his mandatory 14 day quarantine up there.

From Dr Norman Swan 2/1/2021:
"I’m afraid we’ve known since the 1st wave that the NSW incremental approach doesn’t work & risks a very prolonged lockdown. A proportionate response is the maximal one and has been all along. Plus what’s their root cause analysis saying about the overseas’ leaks we know about?"
From his twitter account.
Dr Swan is neither pro nor anti goverment. He is pro-evdence based practice.

No they're f*cking it up big time being ignorant here is never an excuse. That was said right in the very begiing because that was the advice they were told. However that was quickly shown to be wrong and was amended. Some people learn from mistakes , you obviusly ignore facts and have every right to remain ignorant. However evidence says the oppisite to you. See Dr Swan above
The Sydney Virus is a f*ckup exacerbated by Berejiklian's bungling.

I'll stick with the medical and scientific community vs the ill-informed nonsense you continue to spout.

Eddie the Sydney virus has wait for it .....come from Sydney. Gladys has exported it to the rest of Australia. This isn't too difficult to follow .... even for you.eddiesmith wrote:Doesn't work? Been working pretty damn well so far, 4 cases in a day and the world is ending according to Dr Swan and you.
They also managed to stop the Dansaster spreading in NSW without locking down the entire state or wearing masks when it leaked out of Victoria and into Sydney.
Berejiklian's bug has crossed the borders. They are infecting Australia.

The medical and scientific community that's constantly changing it's mind? But yeah 4 months after telling people not to wear them they finally changed their minds, move quick does the Victorian government, that's about the same time for how long hotel quarantine was known to be failing but they ignored that for 4 months also.
Yet you want to condemn Gladys for having an outbreak down to 4 cases in less than a month. So that's damn it up big time but Dan was doing a great job when Victoria was over 700 cases a day.
No one could ever accuse you of being bipartisan that's for sure!

And the Dansaster spread to NSW, QLD, ACT and wasn't really paying attention to see if it got to SA or Tassie.watt price tully wrote:Eddie the Sydney virus has wait for it .....come from Sydney. But that was ok when Dan's total ballsup destroyed a state and spread nationwide?

Oh dear, so Eddie knows more than the medical and scientific community. I deal with delusional people daily.eddiesmith wrote:The medical and scientific community that's constantly changing it's mind? It's not an outbreak confined to 4 people Eddie. It's an outreak infecting a lot of Australia eminating from Sydney whether you like Gladys or not. She's f*cked it for the rest of us currently. This is not a partisan issue. This is a health issue.

Its a cluster that the NSW government has under control, whether you like to admit it or not.
I'll back the expert advice the NSW government is receiving over a biased abc presenter as they have taken on the majority of returned travelers for the last year therefore had by far the most risk and done a phenomenal job of it.
They made one mistake, a 30 second decision by someone in the health department to let a cruise ship walk free.
The Victorian Government had two months worth of warnings to fix their disaster before it created a second wave ten times worse than the first that affected the entire country and infected 20,000 people and killed 800. So if this Sydney cluster turns into an outbreak of 20,000 cases, then you can call it a true disaster.
If you want to live in a fantasy world where zero covid cases is achievable forever then go right ahead. But to do that we'd have to not let anyone in, which may not be a bad idea. They've had plenty of warning.
Although the opposition feels we should be taking on more people, well to do that QLD, WA and Victoria would have to pull their fingers out and take on some extra workload. Even with Victoria finally doing something again after 6 months, NSW still takes on 50% of all returned travelers.
Btw we still don't know how the virus got into Victoria, such a wonderful contact tracing team in Victoria, or maybe they do know and patient zero was actually in HQ in Victoria, well it was about 14 days after it started again that people started getting infected...

No, problem is that we are not equipped to deal with it. Why the "should" isn't "are" is part of another discussion. Right now, the most important thing is that we avoid another outbreak and we can't do that if we keep the borders open.stui magpie wrote:Problem is, we should be equipped to deal with it.roar wrote:Nah, keep it tight, IMO. We obviously aren't equipped to deal with an outbreak so we need to keep the border closed hard.
I feel some pity for those that may miss a funeral or are missing their parents or whatever, but not enough to risk another lockdown.
I'm still shitty that the tennis is set to go ahead as I think that will be the cause of another six months of misery.
And yes, I do fear another lockdown more than the virus itself, and I have no issue admitting that so all those people that have been traveling to the other side of the Murray for generations will just have take a year off. When faced with the alternative, I really find it hard to care too much about their traditional holiday.

yup!! not just because i dont want to be locked down either, because of the damage to the economy, we have proven we can get it under control, so now prove we can keep it that way. doing selfish dumb shit wont work, roar wrote:No, problem is that we are not equipped to deal with it. If it wasn't already plainly obvious to anyone with half a brain:
"A short, sharp, pre-Christmas lockdown would have minimised the spread around Sydney, University of NSW epidemiologist Professor Raina MacIntyre told the ABC.
"We've kind of missed the boat on the two biggest events that are going to cause a spread," Dr MacIntyre said".
No shit Sherlock. NSW failed to contain the Sydney virus and now the rest of Australia is dealing with Berejiklian's negligence.
