Telling people it was no big deal, mocking people who wore masks didn’t help the situation either. It gave people, mostly his supporters who believe everything he says,a false sense of security that ended up costing lives. There was a recent report that stated that America’s death toll could have been 40% lower if he had actually taken the coronavirus seriously. But hey,it’s never his fault is it?It’s always someone else’s fault, isn’t it?What'sinaname wrote:Everyone is quick to blame the President, but much like here, most of the decisions are made by the States. Trump could close the borders..which he did 31 January from China, 11 March from the EU. What we saw in NY was all Cuomo.
Sure, and if China responded three weeks earlier in containing the Wuhan outbreak, 95% of infections would have been prevented.doriswilgus wrote:Telling people it was no big deal, mocking people who wore masks didn’t help the situation either. It gave people, mostly his supporters who believe everything he says,a false sense of security that ended up costing lives. There was a recent report that stated that America’s death toll could have been 40% lower if he had actually taken the coronavirus seriously. But hey,it’s never his fault is it?It’s always someone else’s fault, isn’t it?
People need a level head in a “reported crisis” not the nervous nellies saying the sky is falling. The twice elected Premier of Victoria, the right honourable Daniel Andrews is doing just that as his team are. I deal with crises everyday including life and death crises, like the Premier you need a cool head to sort through the information and make decisions that are safe for individuals and others. The temporary lockdown is a good admittedly strong reaction to this.stui magpie wrote:I escaped early, I was here before the announcement. I find WPTs misguided devotion hilarious but it's both sad and very annoying that it comes to this again. Andrews has talked up both his contact tracing and hotel quarantine as best in class when they clearly aren't as the state is locked down because both failed. Again.
The really sad thing is that some people still believe it's not his fault and he's doing a good job.
People will lap this up as brilliant governance by the President as wellJezza wrote:Biden focusing on the big issues relating to the pandemic. What'sinaname wrote:Biden signs an EO banning the use of China Virus...but everyone is OK saying the UK strain, or South Africa strain.

Danny Boy attacked people who wore masks as well, but that was ok according to the left.doriswilgus wrote: Telling people it was no big deal, mocking people who wore masks didn’t help the situation either.
That’s just more deflection from you.Everyone knows Trump handled the coronavirus badly. He literally didn’t take it seriously and was more concerned about how it would affect his election chances. It’s one of the reasons why he lost the election.Jezza wrote:Sure, and if China responded three weeks earlier in containing the Wuhan outbreak, 95% of infections would have been prevented.doriswilgus wrote:Telling people it was no big deal, mocking people who wore masks didn’t help the situation either.
But we don't hear a peep from the left about this.
Whataboutery is no defence for Trump. Oh so you attack Andrews for how he handled the pandemic, but you’re okay with how Trump handled it?America’s response to it was the worst in the western world.Everyone around the world knows that except for Trump apologists like you.eddiesmith wrote:People will lap this up as brilliant governance by the President as wellJezza wrote:Biden focusing on the big issues relating to the pandemic. What'sinaname wrote:Biden signs an EO banning the use of China Virus...but everyone is OK saying the UK strain, or South Africa strain.

There's no deflection. Most public health measures are instituted by state governors. The federal government can provide logistical support where possible, but the decision to lockdown or issue rules around mask wearing for example is enforced by the Governors.doriswilgus wrote:That’s just more deflection from you.Everyone knows Trump handled the coronavirus badly. He literally didn’t take it seriously and was more concerned about how it would affect his election chances. It’s one of the reasons why he lost the election.
I've never defended Trump but because Danny boy $@&^# it up worse than anyone in Australia people like to deflect and call anyone who doesn't support Dan a Trump apologist.doriswilgus wrote:Oh so you attack Andrews for how he handled the pandemic, but you’re okay with how Trump handled it?America’s response to it was the worst in the western world.Everyone around the world knows that except for Trump apologists like you.eddiesmith wrote:People will lap this up as brilliant governance by the President as wellJezza wrote: Biden focusing on the big issues relating to the pandemic.

As I said before he showed no leadership by downplaying the virus and by making out it was no worse than the flu.It influenced people, especially his own supporters, and led them to taking risks they shouldn’t have.It was negligence on a massive scale on his part, and it did cost lives.Jezza wrote:There's no deflection. He shut the border from China in late January 2020, and later shut the border from Europe in March 2020 as the pandemic was intensifying.
He launched Operation Warp Speed which allowed for the acceleration of developing and manufacturing a vaccine in record time. We're now seeing the benefits of that with the Pfizer vaccine being available to administer to people.
But protests were alright!doriswilgus wrote:Another thing Trump did that was totally irresponsible was holding rallies when the second wave was at its peak in America.Thiusands of people crammed into stands,no social distancing, most of them not wearing masks. All of these events were super spreader events just as the virus was getting out of crontrol. How many people got infected from these tallies, how many people died from attending them? But I suppose the Trumpistas here it was all right because they were on their side, and Trump can do no wrong in their eyes anyway.
