US vaccine roll-out data from the CDC, for anyone who is interested:

https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#vaccinations

106 million vaccine doses administered so far. Given the vastly increased risk of COVID to the elderly, it is notable, as I write, the data shows that almost two-thirds of the over-65 population has had at least one dose and that more than one-third have been fully vaccinated.

That's a good question. I expect the answer is, as with aged care workers, that the people who do such work are poorly paid and have to get work as and where they can.

The vaccine has never claimed to stop someone getting the virus nor from passing it on.

So what’s the point of having it if the vaccine doesn’t provide immunity from the virus? If you are 100% right, this exercise seems a waste of money and resources. I’m not convinced that what you say is correct dude.
Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine!

The vaccine means you're less likely to get really sick and die.

Based upon figures in the US the vaccines are only about 70% effective at stopping COVID from infecting the vaccinated population. I don’t have the source for that study but I read about it last week.

I am sure that South Africa returned 500,000 doses of Astra Zenica as they said it didn’t work well enough for the South African strain of COVID.

Exactly, what is the point? It’s pretty much like the flu shot, the vulnerable get it every year and it won’t stop them getting the flu but supposedly stops them getting seriously ill.

And much like the flu shot, you’ll likely need the Covid vaccine every year!
