Unlikely he would come to our rabble at the moment, but JDG and Petracca playing forward / mid roles is a lot better than JDG / Thomas or JDG / WHE
Would be elite, despite what a certain troll would have you believe.

Then again, maybe the troll is actually Ned Guy? Might explain the overrating of certain players and not interested in quality players at other clubs!!!

But why would it be elite eddie

Petracca is overrated and full of Calabrese Salami, convince me otherwise? If JDG is not an elite mid, and Petracca is not an elite fwd or mid, then how does that make us better?

Ill give you until midnight to present some stats or make some convincing statements as to why you would spend 1 million dollars on Christian Petracca...
Well we've spent $7 million on the one position that doesn't win you premierships so why not spend some on an actual match winning player?

Whether he's worth a million a year, who knows? Depends on performances this year to back up last years brilliant season. But he's definitely worth more than a ruckman that taps to his own feet.

But obviously you're of the dreamteam generation where stats are everything, so a ruckman winning 50 hitouts is elite, even if it doesn't equate to clearances or his team actually winning games. So you'll deride a player like Petracca on his stats alone, when anyone who watches footy knows he will be one of the elite players of the comp.

Players like Petracca and JDG can turn a game with a handful of touches, yet you prefer players who can get 25+ possessions and be useless with them.

Let's not forget last game the opposition didn't even bother competing in the ruck, they realised just how useless the position is, and they still beat us! That was a team that was struggling and are long odds to even play finals.

Correct!

Currently he is not an elite player! Either fwd or mid! however he may not even become an elite player one day, so you dont pay 1 million for potential thats silly.

He definetly does not bring Leadership to the club either

Bontempelli is on a complete different level to Petracca

Say what you want, Grundy is an elite Ruckman who produces double the amount of clearences than Petracca with almost the same amount of possessions. Grundy is much more Important to Collingwood than Petracca could ever be!

It'd be just fabulous to have JDG and Petracca attacking the same goal. Between them, they've kicked 8 goals 10, this year. The best thing, of course, is that they've kicked 6 of those 8 goals in two of their collective 6 games. Perhaps the thing to do is to just recruit 22 guys who can win a game a season off their own boot and hope they take it in turns, one week each. Then, you just have the small question of whether any of them will turn up to play in a final. De Goey has kicked 2 goals in his last 3 finals, so you wouldn't bet on him. He had a reasonable finals series in 2018 but that was a long, long time ago, now.

^ Is that including the final against Geelong in which he was injured at Qtr time? Hmmm

And how many goals does Degoey create as well?

Petracca is not one his level inside F50

No Debate!

Lol, attacks JDG a genuine match winner and thinks its fine to give $7 million to a ruckman who can't even help his team win games against 2 rookies...

Yes, it does. But JDG tends to break down a couple of times a year, so you can't be excluding those games from his performance as if it is "bad luck".

He cant kick goals if he isn't playing. That same year he kicked 5 or 6 against Geelong ( maybe even at their ground I think )

2018 is not that long ago, 12 goals in 4 finals. DeGoey's 'awe' pretty much drove us into the Grannie in which he kicked 3 big time goals.

There is no question I believe, it's fair to say DeGoey is a big game player.

Then there was the Legend of the Blair Witch ( who in 2011 had a Petracca like season ) according to stats

376 disposals ( 190 contested )
26 goals 18
94 tackles ( Petracca hasnt achieved yet )
72 inside 50's
50 clearences

Despite being 2 feet smaller...

Petracca and Blairs 2nd seasons were almost mirror image

@ eddiesmith

Infact, in 2011, after 3 rounds, Blair had already booted 10 goals

I guess you would have locked him in long term 850-900 thousand at least?

Doubt it; I think his ears are covered by earmuffs and a beanie - the same sort people wear when they downhill ski most weeks.

DeGoey’s performance on and off the field since day one, IMO, demonstrates his character. Hasn’t got it to be a great player or team member; regardless of his obvious natural talent. I suspect he couldn’t “give a stuff” about anyone else. Put him on the trade table and cut the loss on the investment over 7 years; or whatever it is. He won’t change.
