None of these alerts has ever resulted in the identification of an outbreak. The government should be using this as a management tool - and the public health response is probably entirely sensible - but it would help if there were some more sensible reportage about this subject. The problem, in my view, with alarmist reporting like this is that each time nothing ultimately happens the community becomes less and less sensitive to the risk.

In Victoria, there were no new local or interstate cases. There were 2 new cases acquired overseas. There are now 24 active cases. 15,656 test results were reported.

The other interesting side of it is I assume they'd detect it in the catchments that cover the City and any other area that has a quarantine hotel. But of course they won't mention them because they expect that, but then do people in those inner city areas see this and think, oh well it's not my area so I won't bother getting tested?

Apparently homeless people are quite transportable. Before the Barcelona Olympics in 92 the government rounded them all up & loaded them onto trains and then deposited them at the other end of the country. The theory being that the games would be over by the time they returned.

They have just announced a further lockdown in my province in Thailand for a further 2 weeks and restaurants are now takeaway only. All bars closed. The stupid military government is destroying the economy and may expats are going to return home never to return. Trouble is there are 4 other countries that share a border , They have vaccinated half of one percent of the population, the majority being the Military and Police.

It all very well for Scomo and co to crap on about allowing people to come home if vaccinated. Well send a heap of vaccines to those countries in the region and have the embassies distribute them to their own citizens. I would be happy to pay 20 bucks for a local clinic to give me the jab. It is the least they could do after they had all flights cancelled.

it shits me, during covid a guy sneaked into a hotel and got fed and had a bed for 2 weeks, i was like good on him. there are empty buildings, apartment, disused hotels etc, why cant they be set up for the homeless?

During the pandemic there were lots of people who were homeless being housed in some hotels in the CBD and suburbs nearby.

The state government funded that and funded support services such as various NGO services such as Salvo’s etc to provide outreach and whatnot. The same applied to mental health and (Alcohol and Drug) AOD services. They had dedicated mental health workers who were available for NGO staff to refer to. I think they’ve now been defunded but not absolutely (not actually sure to be honest) Each of the hotels had CornaVirus protections in place.

I recall dealing with (and encouraging) very recent social work graduates dealing with (at times) a complex group of people.

Thankfully the Feds have put a stop on Indian arrivals for now, that should be one less thing for the Labor State Premiers to sook about, it's always someone else's fault when you can't do your job.

Yes indeed the Feds are quick to blame others over their continued quarantine stuff ups especially abrogating their quarantine responsibilities.

I’m not too sure how legal it is to block Australian’s from trying to return home. Christmas Island is still there.
