Optus ticket allocation for Magpie members

Post by Skids »

Don't know what's going on here, but the wiggles aren't even allocating enough tickets for all of our WA members. This is a disgrace!
They should have to provide a minimum of 5-10% of ground capacity to visiting clubs, surely?!?

I'm going to follow up on this with the WA football commission, the total disregard shown to supporters of other clubs in this hick town are an absolute scandal.

So, I got a response from the WA football commission, they handballed me to Optus Stadium direct.

I have written an email demanding that visiting club supporters are allocated between 5-10% (obviously clubs like North & GWS would be 5%, Pies, Scum and filth would be 10%) of the grounds capacity.

Optus got back to me, with another buck passing response...
I'm going to pursue this. As a long term member of the club, as many others are, we should be able to purchase multiple tickets so fellow Pies fans can attend games in Perth.

Hello Paul,
Thank you for contacting Optus Stadium.
Unfortunately allocations for visiting teams are not managed by the venue with all allocations managed by the home clubs in consolation with the visiting club.

I suggest getting in touch with the Collingwood Football Club Membership department to discuss the issue of your entitlements and the availability to access seats based on your membership.

Wishing you all the best.

Kind regards,
Wendy

I've followed up with this, wonder what sort of response I can expect

Hi WCE
I would like to know how many tickets are allocated to visiting clubs when we play you at Optus stadium? When Collingwood was here, I received an email from the club advising that you hadn't even given enough tickets to cater for all of our WA members. This is ludicrous!
As a long term member of Collingwood (23 years), I should be guaranteed not only a ticket for myself, but multiple tickets to enable me to take family members to a game, as should ALL visiting clubs members.
Now I know you have more members than seats... why on earth such a limited capacity seating stadium was built is another mind boggling decision. But, surely, an atmosphere with closer to equal numbers of supporters is preferable to one filled with booing fans from one side?
The bigger (Collingwood, Essendon, Richmond & Carlton) clubs should have an allocation of at least 10% of the ground capacity for members and their families to attend. The smaller clubs, I don't know (or care), 5%?
You need some proper football atmosphere at your games, the one sided crowd atmosphere really is a sad state of affairs and one that needs to be addressed.

Hahaha, quick response... funny how there was a thread in General discussion about the date being wrong on an email from the club for the GC game... check these peanuts out... a week after their derby

NO SPECTATORS PERMITTED AT RAC DERBY

Thank you for emailing the West Coast Eagles Membership Services Centre.

As you will no doubt have heard, the Premier announced this morning that spectators will not be permitted to attend today’s RAC Derby, due to increased COVID-19 risks in the community.

We have no further information at this time; however, will do our best to respond to all queries within 10 business days.

Well there's more handballs on this issue than in a quarter of footy!

Hi Paul

The number of tickets is prescribed by AFL guidelines and were provided accordingly to Collingwood Football Club as the visiting club; this number is known to visiting clubs well in advance of the match and not a number that is generally made public.

As you point out, we have far more members than seats, and it makes no sense for us to give up any additional seats to opposition members. We make no apologies for the fact that we enjoy the home ground advantage that our passionate supporters create, “one-sided” or not.

There are no guarantees provided by the home club (at any venue) that visiting clubs will have access to all the tickets they require. The same situation applies for West Coast Eagles members at away matches, including sell-out matches at the MCG or Marvel Stadium. If we receive requests for additional tickets, we will discuss that with the visiting club and will assist where we can. On this occasion, we could not.

It is the responsibility of Collingwood Football Club to meet the commitments they make to their members, which is a matter you should take up with them if you have concerns.

Kind regards

Lisa

Couldn't resist..

Hey Lisa

No doubt you'll be glad when the season is over. No probs getting a seat this season, all those "passionate" supporters seemed to have lost the passion.

Kind Regards

Paul
