Once Victoria re-opened there was a melange of check in methods, from manual paper based to larger chain stores personal QR codes til finally the Vic Government got something similar to the NSW one. Now they're struggling to get people to use it.

NSW people retained their freedom while Victoria was locked down, the price of that was to use the QR system so they've generally been conditioned to using it. They can see how quickly the NSW Government have been able to jump on outbreaks and contact trace without locking down so they have incentive to use it.

With the trains, my observations are that trains are no where near being back to where they were. Some mornings I walk along the train line, Hurstbridge line. The 7:15 from Watsonia would be nearly standing room only in the past, now it looks like there's 1 person per group of 4-6 seats. The traffic on Greensborough road at the same time however is horrendous.

People are choosing to drive, not use trains.
My youngest still uses a train to work and back and advised less people using them and variable compliance. On local radio this am there were reports from eastern suburbs was low compliance with mask wearing.

I caught a train into the CBD today.
Close to 100% compliance from what I could see, which is normal.
May depend upon where the train is though.

The Cops were apparently out in force this morning fining people. Guess the government needs a bit of a boost before the budget.

No the revenue is to pay for more on line conspiracy theory training, you just can’t get enough.

Last week they came through the carriage and there was one person near me not wearing a mask. I heard the conversation. He said he didn't have one so they gave him one. They also took his name and address and said it is a warning first, with no fine.

Watch out India, here comes Nepal.

https://edition.cnn.com/2021/05/06/asia ... index.html
Covid-19 cases are skyrocketing, hospitals are overwhelmed, and the country's Prime Minister is pleading for help from other nations.
Nepal is now reporting about 20 daily Covid-19 cases per 100,000 people -- about the same number as India was reporting two weeks ago.
Last weekend, 44% of Nepal's Covid tests came back positive, according to government figures quoted by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), as it warned of an impending crisis.
"What is happening in India right now is a horrifying preview of Nepal's future if we cannot contain this latest Covid surge that is claiming more lives by the minute," Nepal's Red Cross chairperson, Dr. Netra Prasad Timsina, said in a statement.
The virus is constantly mutating, becoming more infectious and deadly.

Now more than ever we need to be strong on border control. By all means send aid to countries, like we have tried to do with New Guinea, but we don't help other countries by importing infections here.

So far over 3 million people are reported to have died from Covid 19 worldwide, a figure that any realist would consider massively under.

3rd world areas of high population are effectively undergoing a population cull. They have vast numbers of poor who are being massacred.

Stay tuned because places like Indonesia are yet to go off, and if this virus leaks from India and Nepal back into China and other neighbors all hell will break loose.
Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.

This is terrible, what a disaster.

And Brazil continues to be a disaster. The leaders of both Brazil and India need to be tried in front of the ICC for crimes against humanity. Appalling

In Victoria, there were no new cases. There are now 17 active cases. 16,135 test results were reported.

What can the International Cricket Council do about it?

I haven't been paying too much attention but I assume the federal government is still shirking it's responsibility, and no quarantine process has been developed, apart, of course, from dumping them in the various states.
