Health Minister Martin Foley said the case highlighted the need to move to other forms of quarantine.

"Hotels weren't designed to be quarantine facilities," he said.

"The alternative arrangements to hotel quarantine need to be taken up and need to be fast-tracked."
It’s quite clear that Morrison has abrogated his responsibilities with respect to Quarantine. It always was and remains a Federal Responsibility. QLD mid 2020 provided proposals for the development of the bungalow style accommodation. This could have been done and dusted. Instead the country got nada from the Feds apart from some spin about how many vaccines we were purchasing and they managed to stuff that up too.

In Victoria, there were no new local or interstate-acquired cases. There were 4 new overseas-acquired cases (presently in HQ). There are 22 active cases. 14,270 test results were reported.

Do you think that the Government won't build quarantine facilities in all the States and territories because that would mean we would have places for refugees to go in the future? This would be the perfect time to build these so we could use these facilities in the future instead of offshore detention centres. Hotels should not be used for quarantine.

Interesting question, Ken. Totally agree that these would be preferable to offshore detention in every conceivable way.

Wrong. NSW is in exactly the same situation, with health officials pleading for people to check in. This was all over the papers a week or so ago but it didn't fit with your pre-written agenda so you conveniently ignored it.

In reality, a lot of people don't trust electronic check-ins. They know that Google and Facebook and Apple are tracking them relentlessly, without their genuine consent, and they don't like adding yet another electronic tracker to the mix. (The fact that the new one is for their the public good rather than the commercial interests of a gigantic foreign monopoly doesn't seem to register on the emotional radar. Illogical or not, it is the reality.)

They may be having some compliance issues but everything else I wrote was 100% correct/ NSW had a single state QR code system that people were using while Victoria was still in Lockdown.
