The state recorded 18 locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm yesterday. Of those 18 cases, we already knew about 13.

In addition, six new cases were detected overnight. This means NSW has technically recorded 11 new cases.

Those numbers are off the back of 48,402 tests, up from yesterday’s 44,640.

One of Thursday’s cases was NSW Agriculture Minister Adam Marshall, whose positive COVID-19 test sent his colleagues into a spiral at state parliament this morning.

Not having a go at you - I think, though, that suggesting that NSW has "technically recorded 11 new cases" is a bit of a nonsense. If a "new case" is just one that hadn't been previously announced (which seems to be what the SMH is suggesting), we could all avoid ever having "new cases" just by announcing them as they come to hand. That can't be right. Surely we run with the 18 that were newly reported at some time during the 24-hour reporting period and say that there are a further 6 known about but those will be in tomorrow's 24-hour total?
Nothing personal taken, the text is lifted from the article I linked. Overly complicated counting system, I just quoted it. I couldn't figure out what the numbers were.

Correct DTM. Berijiklian balls up again. NSW is doing what it’s good at: not containing the virus and exporting the Virus to Victoria as well as other places.

Had they been responsible like Victoria & locked down for a short period they would have stopped their infection from spreading elsewhere. Ideological and incompetent nitwits.

Lockdowns are only necessary for states with incompetent contact tracing

10 new cases of which 8 were already in isolation
That aged well...

Interesting that I've seen several Dan supporters on social media actively barracking for Gladys to fail. Unfortunately that says nothing complimentary about them.

Still, this is early days and more nuanced approach, I'll continue to watch with interest

They'll be outraged if the localised restrictions work yet again for NSW after Dan so badly ballsed it up last year with his joke of a postcode lockdown. So many idiots out there who actually think the postcode lockdown is remotely similar to what NSW is doing, its quite funny.

But its good to see level headed approaches, why punish areas with no cases? Dan and James could learn a lot from Gladys but they're too pigheaded

Also anyone who thinks they should have locked down earlier and it wouldn't have spread, the super spreader party happened nearly a week ago, was nowhere near lockdown numbers last Saturday...

But revisionist history is what some people do very well, they still deny Dan exported the virus last year...

In Victoria, 2 new local cases and no new cases acquired overseas.
- 18,019 vaccine doses were administered
- 21,991 test results were received.

There are 49 active cases. The 2 new cases are the Sandringham cases announced yesterday that are sourced to the "super-spreader" party in NSW.

In Victoria, 1 new local case and 3 new cases acquired overseas (currently in HQ).
- 19,807 vaccine doses were administered
- 21,595 test results were received.

There are 51 active cases. The Government says that "The new locally-acquired case is a known Primary Close Contact who has been quarantining throughout their infectious period."
