Curious who the 15 million in lockdown are because of Gladys?
Don't know whether WPT is just FOS or completely unaware that QLD and NT lockdowns are because of QLD outbreak and nothing to do with NSW...SA have implemented restrictions due to the NT outbreak and yet again nothing to do with NSW and not even in a lockdown.
Sydney and WA are in lockdown because of Sydney outbreak, WA would have been in lockdown whether Gladys acted sooner or not as the case had already left the state before even the whingers wanted lockdown.

Sorry Dave, that's not correct. Check the data for yourself if you don't believe me.Dave The Man wrote:Because she waited for cases to keep Building Up and Still has not Stopped and Still Going Upstui magpie wrote:If you actually looked at the facts, you'd see you are wrong. As usual.

Where did you get the 60% figue from? I've seen much higher numbers quoted but there's different levels of protection with all the vaccines.Dave The Man wrote:When they say that People who had 2 Astrazanica is 60% Protected against Covid do they mean from Dying or just getting the Virus?
Protection from getting it
protection from getting sick
protection from being infectious
protection from dying.
Depending on the vaccine there's different levels for each.

^ The following article suggests that the results in the UK are to the effect that the vaccines have only a modest impact on preventing infection but are very effective at preventing serious symptomatic illness requiring hospitalisation, even with the Delta variant. Although the analysis stops short of saying so (for want of data), the probable consequence is that the death rate will also be very effectively reduced for those people who do get the disease.

Dave, if you go back and read that Conversation article again, slowly, it answers your question I think.
1 dose of vaccine makes you less likely to get Covid. Any vaccine, the numbers vary on different types but they all make a difference.
The second dose seriously increases your chances of not getting Covid and, if you do get it, not getting sick.
No vaccine is perfect when dealing with these kind of viruses. You can still get the flu after getting the flu vaccine but you're a **** less likely to die from it. Same applies with the Covid vaccines.
The numbers they quote are largely based on clinical trials, it will take some time yet to get real world data but keep this in mind.
You've had 2 shots of AZ. You've had no side effects. You're as likely as dying from Covid as you are of dying from being hit by a chinese satellite crashing through your bedroom ceiling. Don't stress, relax and enjoy.

Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine!

Meanwhile, no laughing in NSW.
24 new daily cases, 17 are linked to other cases but 7 at this stage aren't. That takes the Bondi cluster upo to 177 cases.
About half of the people had been out in the community while infectious which is clearly cause for concern. Police have issued 65 fines for breaching Covid orders in the past 24 hours.
