Glady Needs to Lockdown like Victoria as just asking people to do it won't workPies4shaw wrote:Today's 38 was the highest number of new community cases per day in NSW since 15 April 2020. The report that day is a "blip", so I suspect it involved a correction of earlier figures.
Anyway, 39 cases (including the one in HQ) is well under the NSW peak of 212 reported on 28 March 2020. For comparison, the Victorian peak of 700 was reported on 5 August 2020. The most recent occasion on which Victoria recorded 39 cases was on 15 September 2020, on the way out of the second lockdown.
This is a critical period for NSW (and the rest of us, since if they fail, so do we all) - with the less infectious original version of the virus, when Victoria hit 40 cases a day on the way up, it was 7 times that in less than a fortnight.

She’s buggered up big time DTM. The gold standard no less. What a clusterf*ck. Now the Western Suburbs where there are much bigger family units, less capacity to work from home, higher casualised work force. Yes well done Gladys.
She was 2 weeks too late.
Combined with Scotty’s inconsistent and simply muddle headed communications they made a right Royal stuff up.
Political considerations ahead of public health sadly.
Listening to my daughter in Sidanee too many still don’t take it seriously and the Berejiklian is having a Clayton’s lockdown. Sad for the rest of the country.

It is absolutely a critical period for NSW, treating people like adults only works if they behave accordingly. Gladys has avoided the authoritarian approach to date, it hasn't worked and it hasn't failed against the Delta strain, despite the vitriol from the amateur epidemiologists and Dandrews fainbois who are actively barracking for her to fail.Pies4shaw wrote:Today's 38 was the highest number of new community cases per day in NSW since 15 April 2020. Time will tell and judging in hindsight is easy.
I've seen some mouth breathing imbeciles saying she should have locked down a week earlier, when she initiated the lockdown 10 days after the initial case was reported.
People in Albury are having to wear masks inside for the first time, people in Wodonga who suffered through long unjustified lockdpwns would have little sympathy.
Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.

Can't Trust People to do the Right Thing and that is why Lockdowns like in Melbourne are Needed because lot of People only think of themselves.
Victoria tried to Trust People about same time last season and some people where not doing what they where Told and that Ended up in about 3 Months Lockdown. Glady should of Learnt from that

How does the every twist and turn of state leaders turn into a daily tribal commentary?
Overall, you're doing great with behavioural controls and terrible with vaccinations. In contrast, the UK is doing terrible with behavioural controls and great with vaccinations.
Watching the losers doubling down on their success in one to obscure their runaway failure in the other is the real show, and a dynamic that could drive this business for eternity amen.

No condemnation I see of Annastacia for her exporting of the virus to multiple states and not locking down quick enough, nor opening up with continuous transmission occurring?

But Victoria was without lockdown until they reached 200 and the government had no clue where the cases were coming from, so not even close to comparable situations.Pies4shaw wrote:Today's 38 was the highest number of new community cases per day in NSW since 15 April 2020. I'm an occasional reader and a very occasional poster in VPT and I'm disappointed to see how much it has deteriorated down tribal lines lately. Particularly on this subject.
Some of the more reasonable posters who are usually worth reading are now just aggressively defending their side of politics whilst attacking the other side.
And if you think you don't have a 'side' and that your views on the matter are not distorted by your political bias then maybe have another think.

Everyone blames whatever government that is in charge but the funny thing is that they all the Premiers say that they are following the Health officer advice, so shouldn't everyone be happy or mad at the Health officer not the Premier of the State? This shouldn't be Labour versus Liberal we need all the States to succeed in this fight and not hope that any fail!
Cheers big ears

Yes Stui personal responsibility only works if people actually take it, I just can’t believe anyone thought that would be the case! And here we are! Between the downright selfish pricks and the tinfoil brigade it was never going to be enough. So thanks Dan for being over cautious but I still won’t vote for you!
Politics should it be involved in a worldwide health crisis , it’s never worked yet,

You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either!

They say that but it was the Premier who decided to use private security instead of police or ADF that led to Melbourne’s outbreak. It was the premier who put the jobs department in charge of hotel quarantine instead of the health department. As for restrictions, the curfew and outdoor mask wearing were both captains calls and the CHO said there was no health advice to support either!KenH wrote:

So they might claim they only act on health advice but Dan in particular has shown he will make the calls he wants on a regular basis despite not being recommended by the CHO.
