As for sydney I get it however you cant stop people being selfish arseholes. lets not forget Victoria has a problem purely because Sydney allowed removalists from a red zone to come her. actually thats on us too, we should have slammed the border shut, no excuses. then those bastards lied about where they went and even how many trucks they had! Then there is the bastards in quarantine who went to the supermarket rather than getting a delivery.

Until they are named and shamed in the hope of convincing the other bastards not to do it, lockdown is essential. Do i like it? ****!

- 3 LGAs are required to say in their local communities (no travel out for work, except for health and emergency workers).

- only "critical retail" remains open.

- no carpooling for anybody.

- pause on all construction - large or small. For all of Greater Sydney. Urgent repairs permitted.

- Harsher penalties for any employer who forces their employees to come into work.

- Carry a mask at all times.

- all settings in regional NSW remain the same. No additional restrictions.

I don't know why the NSW Premier thinks its useful to understate the extent of infection in the community. She said "at least 29" but the true information (published by her own Health Department seconds later) is this:

Sixty-nine cases were in isolation throughout their infectious period and ten cases were in isolation for part of their infectious period. Twenty-nine cases were infectious in the community, and the isolation status of three cases remains under investigation.

So, it's actually between 39 and 42, not 29.

Good to see Victoria following NSW lead with how many were infectious in the community and for how long.

They actually are doing that very precisely in the press conference (so, the Minister is specifically stating how many days particular cases have been infectious in the community), although it actually doesn't matter because they are on top of them. I'll put those extracts of the speech up if they are published.

Anyway, preliminary remarks from the Victorian press conference, via the ABC blog:

"Firstly, we have an additional case at the MCG in level two of the MCC members' reserve. Two of his friends have now had the virus and they have recently travelled to Phillip Island. That is three.

"The social contact of the Trinity Grammar teacher at the MCG now has the virus and we have learned about two further staff members at Trinity Grammar also testing positive. That is six.

"There has been a visit to Miss Frankie's restaurant from a positive case which has seen three cases of transmission with a staff member and patron sitting on nearby tables. That is nine.

"There has also been another student at Saint Patrick's primary school in Murrumbeena, that takes us to 10.

"We also have two staff members at Bacchus Marsh Grammar, and one student. We have four household contacts of the Young & Jackson case, being the gentleman's wife and his daughters, Department of one of the daughters. That brings us to 18.

"One household contacts of the original gentleman from the city of Hume who visited Coles, this was the case who had been isolating throughout their infectious period and had no other exposure sites or other contact. All of that brings us to the 19 new cases today."

And Victoria isn't trying to minimise the number. So, the ABC reports (and still does not yet report Foley's detailed infection by infection statement as to how long each of those persons was infectious in the community):

Victoria's Health Minister says all but one of Victoria's new coronavirus cases have been infectious while in the community.

The new cases include another person who went to the MCG. He infected two friends, who recently travelled to Phillip Island.

There are also two more staff members infected from Trinity Grammar, another student at St Patricks' primary in Murrumbeena, two more Bacchus Marsh Grammar staff members and one student.

Martin Foley says there are now 10,000 primary close contacts, and more than 160 exposure alerts but fast contact tracing work and the lockdown have kept exposure times to a minimum.

"It is an average of 1.7 days of their infectious period in the community and that figure is a vindication of the going hard and going early strategy that the public health team have put to the government," he said.

None of this "infectious in the community for part of their infectious period" rubbish.

^ I'm not going to proffer any opinion on why - I just think that giving the complete, "warts and all" picture makes everything else more palatable. When she's minimising the message like that, it's hard not to wonder what else she should be telling us but isn't saying.

Gladys Morrison means well but she is as dumb as dog shit if she thinks people will follow rules.

People are f*&king shit. All people do is try to avoid being inconvenienced.

She needs to get tough and just lock the f*&k down. All of NSW, no exception.
