Craig Ellis for Brent Tuckey

Post by Damien »

Have heard that the Pies could be after Criag Ellis from the Doggies (you may recall Pebbles cleaned him up at Colonial last year) in a trade for Brent Tuckey. Go for it I say.....

I don't believe we would go for Ellis. I think I would much rather have Cox(if we were to get anyone from the puppies)

I dont know about this trade... tell you the truth im undecided.

Craig Ellis is a player who is mobile and would give us great rebound out of defence. He has good hands I guess and is big enough for CHB, but the injuries he gets places abit of doubt in my mind. But I guess you look at Tuckey and say this could be his chance, because the Bulldogs dont have a full forward. So looking at it now maybe i would say go for it - THE BULLDOGS NEED A GOAL KICKER = BRENT TUCKEY, AND WE NEED A CENTRE HALF BACK = CRAIG ELLIS.

LETS PRAY HE HOLDS UP ALL YEAR

PS HOW OLD IS CRIAG ELLIS?????????????

This is probably a fair deal. Niether are top level players and probably never will be. Tucks has had his time and I have thought for some time that he would be offered in a trade deal. Given our need for a tall defender it should suit us.

From his bio:
No. 32
Date of birth 04/06/75
Height 190cm
Weight 88kg
AFL Debut 1994
Recruited from Stawell/Western U18
Career Games 107
Career Goals 6

Ellis is pretty mobile for his size and looks lean. He moves well enough to provide some run from from defense but I am concerned he may not have the strength to hold the stronger forwards. That makes it essential to keep Richo.

I've nerver rated Ellis, but we need a tall backman, and Ellis may be retiring about the time Cloak comes through.... Also, I think it'll be hard for Tuckey to break into the Collinwood forward line up - assuming someone helps ruck with Josh he'll be in there too - so to give the kid a chance maybe we should trade him if he want's it. He hasn't shown much, but he'd get a go alongside Chris Grant - can't hurt the kid.

I think keeping Richo is a necessity - he's a very underated player. Also, why not let him play out his last few years at his beloved club considering we need experienced tall defenders!

I know that was the trap we fell into in the mid 90's, but loyalty isn't dead!

the bulldogs were expecting him to retire at the end of the year.

hes too old and too injury prone, we dont need that. theres alot better players out there than ellis up for grabs!

Ellis won't retire - he is 26.
That should be his peak age. He has been injury prone and that is a worry. I think we should do the deal if it is really on because Tucks just doesn't fit into our side.

If we get Ellis, should we trade Wakelin? Where would he play?
Personally, I would keep Presti and richo and see if anyone wants Wakelin.
