The 2021 Great Big Consolidated Trade & Draft thread

And also a F / S selection, so it looks like we’re not the only ones who get it wrong. While I’m not a fan of filling a list with average players, he is a player worth a thought. Very highly rated junior and also has good speed.inxs88 wrote:Seems like the Pies nearly snared Patrick Naish last off-season. Averaged 29 disposals, 1 goal/game in 2021 with high kicking efficiency. Delisted free agent now. Has merit.
No trade required and likely an incentive based contract. If Collingwood think he would be around our best 22 most weeks, then surely his name should be on the whiteboard.
Just on Lipinski, I see the Dogs offered him a three year deal to stay. The money may be the sticking point but they obviously rate him enough to want him to stay on. This has got #2 selection in the pre season draft written all over it

Yet we never heard this mentioned last year amongst all that other nonsense?inxs88 wrote:Seems like the Pies nearly snared Patrick Naish last off-season. Averaged 29 disposals, 1 goal/game in 2021 with high kicking efficiency. Delisted free agent now. Has merit.
If he were any good, they'd trade him out for a bargain, surely - as opposed to blatantly delisting him?

Umm, Jake was rookied at the crows and took some time to come on - at a time when we had half backs coming out of our ears and Stewart did nothing at GWS and hardly set the world on fire at Essendon. If you wanted an example of getting it wrong Id suggest Pickenpiedys wrote:Namely Jake Kelly at Cows, and Stewart at Doperland.MJ23 wrote:Also, we have actually passed on a few we did not rate

Stewart is just ok. Injury hasnt helped, but he is not an AA calibre player. I dont think he's done anything to suggest we made a mistake not drafting him.MJ23 wrote:Umm, Jake was rookied at the crows and took some time to come on - at a time when we had half backs coming out of our ears and Stewart did nothing at GWS and hardly set the world on fire at Essendon. Kelly has been good for the Crows and would have been worth the risk in the rookie draft. (I believe we re-drafted Gault that year?). Kelly might find himself at Collingwood after this years free agency period ends. I think he is a much better version of Madgen.
Picken didnt nominate father-son selection? I think he played for Willy before the Dogs took him as a 22 year old? I dont know the full story here, but it would have been sensational to see him win a flag with the Pies.

Re: Rumoured Recruits Wright is Targeting
From the OP;
I like Lipinski, Riccardi, Kelly, and Stengle as a rookie.
I'm not that keen on O'Brien or Lynch at 30 years of age.
I'd be surprised but happy to get Silvagni.
Weideman is a tease. He'll be 25 in June next year. Has he shown enough to suggest he is able to turn it around? I'd still have a look, but sheesh I dont want to trade big for him. Has been quite good in the VFL for Casey but has been putrid in his 5 AFL games this year. And I admit, his last name does it for me. Murray was my Dads favourite player as a boy, so yeah...
I dont know enough about McLean, Stephens, Kreuger, Bell, but they're all young enough.
From players not mentioned, I wonder if Paddy Dow, Coleman-Jones, Patrick Naish or Quinton Narkle have been looked at? Keen to know other posters thoughts.
Also is there any truth to the rumour that Seedsman is looking to return to Collingwood? At 29, I'm not so sure.
Also wondering if we're looking at Mitch Wallis, Luke Parker, Matt Crouch or Jacob Hopper. And what you guys think of those players.
And yeah... would love to get Adam Cerra and especially Ben King... but it's not happening.

Narkle and Wallis are probably the only two on that list that are gettable, meet our needs and could come to us cheap.Presti35 wrote:From the OP;

The rest would just cost to much or don't fill a need on our list. Although I would be making enquires about Riccardi.
Think these players supplement gaps in our list and cost minimal:
* Tom Lynch as a delisted free agent
* Patrick Naish as a rookie
* Tyson Stengle as a delisted free agent
More difficult:
* Luke Parker: free agent but wants $700,000+
* Dylan Stephens: former top 5 pick who has plateaued
* Patrick Lipinski: Dogs need points this year for Darcy F/S
Important we go hard and threaten clubs with our Pre-season Number 2 pick

Trade Swap Hypotheticals
https://www.afl.com.au/news/669893/indi ... lubs-picks
Okay Nicksters. Let's see if we can find the best and worst hypothetical trade deals as we near Trade Week 2021.
Trade One:
Mason Cox and pick 39 to Gold Coast for their pick 22. Assists us with points for Nick Daicos and assists the Ruck support gap that Gold Coast have stated they need filling post Zac Smith's retirement and Jarrod Witts prolonged return from a knee reconstruction.
Trade Two:
Max Lynch to Bulldogs for a Second Round pick in 2022 Draft. Likely to be around pick 27-35. Bulldogs have a bust around a geriatric Stefan Martin, a meek Tim English who keeps getting belted in ruck contests and middling backups such as Lewis Young and Jordan Sweet.
I've provided the latest indicative draft order of picks as of August 23rd so feel free to be measured, be a tight ass or wishfully optimistic.
