I've heard many 'what -ifs' in regard this year's pick. What if we finished bottom? What did we get in return? Who we could have picked up in the draft but I don't think this was addressed.

If we did have Pick 2 what would we get for it?
* Clubs know we want to trade it out.
* Assume we have the same points after that pick - as we currently do.

You would think almost any player on the trade table would be gettable with that pick (putting aside salary cap).

That is the opportunity cost.

I would look at IQ and Callum Brown.

I would only trade IQ if he would be worth a first rounder....does anyone here think he is worth that?
CB would be worth something around pick 20-30 ?

Please dont take this seriously as I would prefer if they stayed and became great players for us but if I had to pick someone that could be worth something, it would be these two, hypothetically speaking of course.

I would get in 2 x midfielders and no talls, but thats just me.
What's the point of trading IQ for a first rounder. It would get swallowed up by the Daicos bid than you've lost a 10 year player.
It should read future first rounder. Ive been discussing the scenario with nicksters for a while now and yes it would get swallowed up and would be a waste. Unless of course we can manufacture a 2021 No.1 pick which would have double benefits for us.
1. We would get a probable elite player at No.1 and start developing him a year earlier.
2. We would at the same time ensure we get ND for lesser points than if he was bid by another club at No.1 pick.

We dont have much bargaining power so its unlikely to happen unless Wrighty weaves his magic.

Had we finished 18th, we could have comfortably managed an outcome that included the two best under age midfielders in the country. Daicos and Horne - Francis. The talls aren’t overly rated, so it would be those two mids. Horne - Francis is a bit of a bull and Daicos is pure silk.
If we had pick 2, you should refer to the above posts. Anything is possible if the club is prepared to pay overs for deals or trades but the reality is, unless we did a sweetheart deal with whoever went to the draft with pick 1, then we would pick up Daicos and pretty much only Daicos in that draft. Again if people want to trade out Moore, Degoey etc, then we could easily manufacture whatever scenario we want. I’m not sure we really want to do that for a player who isn’t likely as good as Daicos anyway.

We didn’t finish 18th and we also don’t have pick 2, so it remains a moot point until the day we decide to sell the farm for pick either # 1 or # 2.

If we did somehow get pick 2 by whatever means, I'm sure we could split the pick into 2 first rounders which would net Nick Daicos and another first round pick.

For me, I don't know who, out of the better players we have, we could/should trade out to get pick 2 that wouldn't really send us two steps back to only go one forward in 2-3 years.

With the Bulldogs in the window and in desperate need of a tall defender....

Roughead for Lipinski straight swap.

Lipinski wants to go to Collingwood and the Dogs need Roughead. He's also a player that knows their system. This will leave us with a pretty big hole to fill in the backline, but at 30, we should be on that search already.

If the talk of a reunion with the Dogs and Roughead is true... (The only issue is Lipinksi is 23, Roughy is 30... we may need to swap picks around).

But surely this rumour is wrong... IIRC there were reports they'd extended his contract a month or two ago.
I'd suggest Lynch was well on the way to doing so, after that Melbourne game at SCG we won.
Can't recall seeing a bloke who played that well omitted the following week, and not seen again all season. Unreal.

I hope so. We'll get them back for Peter McKenna.
Well if they're balls deep into Cerra, then we should make an offer.

Seedsman will return to Collingwood for a late pick.

Honestly before we look to far forward we need to get a coach and list manager in place and have a complete outside opinion on our entire list
Fresh eyes new perspective and complete unbiased assessment of the entire list
I suspect a incoming coach would have already run his eyes over what we have
If he thinks we are in a complete rebuild mode then our philosophy is different to say if he thinks we are only a year or 2 from being finals bound (I believe the first to be true not the later)
Maybe a new coach and Snr assistant will come with a new plan and ideas on how to best utilise our current players better
Maybe they can find a way to get Grundy to be ruckman who actually hits the ball to our advantage for a change
Maybe they can play players in the right position
Maybe they are prepared to give the youngsters more responsibility now and suffer some short term pain to fast track there development
The next week will be interesting to say the least
