^ you know, Ive been against the Weed from the start - as a forward. Ive said a few times Id prefer Brander and develop the kids we have now - Kelly, Begg, McMahon

Someone suggested looking at him as a defender and Ive totally changed my mind. We need another elite Tall in defense. Howe and Roughy wont be around when our current kids + Daicos peak. Keely/Keene/Wilson maybe but none have cemented a spot. Weed could be the Ben Reid type conversion we are looking for - still need him cheap.

I know we need a spearhead - but we also need to sure up talls in the back half and another 2 at least 30+ possession midfielder's which hopefully come from our current kids.

Lifelong Western Bulldogs supporter Patrick Lipinski has played his last game for the club and will formally request a trade to either Collingwood or Carlton later this month.

Thanks

So Carlton are also into Hewett and Cerra. One is a significant trade and both are significant contracts. I’d be shocked if they could pull off all three off ( and they also need to spin their long suffering supporters something positive )
Subject to the trade involved, I’d be happy for Lipinski to make his way to Collingwood. He’s a decent player who can’t a game in the deepest midfield in the comp. Good size, versatile, perfect age demographic and neat skills. What’s not to like.

^^^ I hope he gets to Collingwood. It's nice to see somebody nominate us as a club of choice for a change. Maybe people will be excited to come to the Pies again.

Straight swap for Cox. I like Lipinski - he can play, hard at it and kicks goals.

We are approaching a good football department with well thought of personal
like Graham Wright and Craig McRae and soon Leppitsch which IMHO will help our PR and if this Bulldog mid nominates us then more may follow
Just tweak Admin / Board and the whole landscape could change for the better

The advantage we have is that Lipinski at 23 would just walk straight into our midfield setup. If he goes to Carlton and Carlton also get Cerra I wouldn't think there's any guarantee Lipinski would get a game at Carlton. That fixes the big bodied mid that we need. Next. A key position forward to find aged around 22-25. That's going to be much harder to find.

Totally.

Wright is into the Weid and apparently he’s keen.
People seem divided on his fitness/ability but he fits our needs…

Wright is close to top in the field of “getting his man”

A great day when we “recruited” him

I actually reckon it's THE perfect time to get the Weid as a good punt.
He's actually ready to roll, was really stringing great games together in the VFL this year (despite not grabbing his opportunities). He's developed body wise now, and 2022 is the season he's due to take the next step. Otherwise I agree with comments previously about transforming him into a defender.

From memory, Josh Kennedy took about 4-5 years to settle into becoming a solid key forward kicking a decent amount of goals. The Weid (I think) has played 5 seasons. They're both the same height, similar weight.

I reckon it's worth a punt.
Billy Picken, the great No. 25 in the sky!
