If we could walk away from the Trade Period/Pre Season Draft with:

* Dylan Stephens
* Patrick Lipinski
* Tyson Stengle
* Nathan Krueger
* maybe a Patrick Naish

they would all fill gaps on the list. Add in Nick Daicos, Youseph Dib and the next best available from the draft, would be very happy. We still have Johnson and Begg as two mid year presents yet to be opened as well.

Sier's sheer disregard to commit to the life of a professional footballer are grounds for a Royal Commission by the membership! 6 years of club commitment for about 6-8 reasonable games. Enjoy the basketball in 2022.

Madgen for a BBQ chicken and MB longneck at best. Consistently worst player to wear the black and white in last 30years.
He's up there but reckon Andrew Tarpey has him will and truely covered for that honour.

In reality, we would be lucky to get one of those players at trade time, without bleeding from the arse again.

And the AwFuL website lists Tyson Stengle as retired?

What is this, Pick A Box? Either name names or don't post

Name names? I don’t know what names, if any. Where did I write or imply that I knew of a specific player who is going to be traded? I merely stated that based on Wright’s quote, we should expect “bold” to mean someone unexpected might be traded out. Seriously, get a grip if something that minor ruffles your feathers. I’ll be sure to check if it’s alright with you before I post my thoughts next time.

^ Don't let him get to you, Swanny. R10 is just Nick's resident grouch. I actually find his acidity amusing.

Anyone heard anything about Will Brodie or Luke Dunstan as an inside mid?

Id have thought that Pendlebury would be due a pay reduction than a pay increase.

Although he is still a valuable player, he isn’t Pendlebury of 3+ years ago.

It’s time we put the club first and not the players.

Finlayson is worth trying to get always plays well against us. Couldn't get a game without Hogan or Greene which is odd.

Oh shit, Id be gutted if we got all of them - Other than Krueger whos a KP we need maybe ONE of them MAX. We need games into the kids. These players are all the same and at the moment very vanilla.

My preference is Lipinski - was at a game at Blacktown where he killed the giants reserves playing in the middle.

Daicos and Dibb - them out of the draft and Id be rapt.

The problem with picking up so many unproven or unfulfilled players ( Lipinski aside ) is that you end up with an average list at best and also a commitment to honouring their contracts at the same time. Ironically, that’s what everyone is complaining about with the likes of Cox, Sier, Thomas etc.

Everyone loves a moneyball trade when it pays off but no so much when that same player spends the next two years playing VFL every week.
Ideally, whoever the club is looking at, needs to have at least offered up a body of work in the AFL at some stage of the 2021 season. If we haven’t got that to fall back on, then we have precious little to left to evaluate anyone on.
I would rather invest in one young best 22 player than two / three depth players in the hope that one will eventually exceed expectations. Remember, you can always find a spot for a best 22 player but you may not have a need for depth every week.
