No because we are only paying Treloar $200k/ year which is about 1% of the cap, and AFAIK we’re not paying Stevo or Philips (or Aish) anything so why should they be included?Big T wrote:Does that include treloar Stephenson PhilipsRd10.1998_11.1#36 wrote: we only have 4 players contracted beyond 2022

$850 over 5yr for Treloar - $166 p/y. The last min argument was over how much front loaded and I dont know how that ended up but I beleive we paid more this year than the $166k av.Rd10.1998_11.1#36 wrote:No because we are only paying Treloar $200k/ year which is about 1% of the cap, and AFAIK we’re not paying Stevo or Philips (or Aish) anything so why should they be included?Big T wrote:Does that include treloar Stephenson PhilipsRd10.1998_11.1#36 wrote: we only have 4 players contracted beyond 2022
Not paying Stevo a cent - hence the trade return for him
Philips was around $100k across 2 years. last year being next year.
Ive said it before - I dont buy statements on our supposed cap issues - there are many reasons why Wright would want that to be the narrative as he re-shapes our list.

Phillips was only contracted for 2021 when we traded him so I'm pretty sure we've fully paid anything for him within that timeline.MJ23 wrote:Philips was around $100k across 2 years. last year being next year.

^ hmm. just going through old text messages and cant find the one on Phillips.
Either way, its immaterial to our overall cap. With all the kids we brought in and Greenwood, Maynard and prob Cox moving on min I think we will be in a good position.

^ the "Wright said..." argument has been raised before but I've never seen a link to it. The $300k in 2021 for Phillips was confirmed on Bigfooty by someone with claimed family connections.
Really it's neither here nor there. I'm happy to go with the $300k in 2021. Seems a reasonable position.
Salient point really is that Phillips has no TPP impact 2022 and beyond.

I heard $50k per year for 2 years and I heard $15o total. Source on Phillips wasn't 100% but I assumed there was cash.jackcass wrote:^ the "Wright said..." argument has been raised before but I've never seen a link to it. Source on Treloar is 100% - from player side not club.

Been thinking about this Draft and how we get "into it" more than we are.
Key is IF we can get a 2nd and 3rd round pick in we cover the deficit IF Nick goes no 1. We would need 3 or more 3rd rounders in that situation. If he goes no 2 then a low 2nd rd or even a 3rd rd gets it done.
We need to wipe this deficit.
Once Nick is called out and we match, Id be looking to GWS again. They have pick 2 and 13. Looking at their list they have a lot of youth already that dont get games. Believing we will again finish lower on the ladder they may be willing to do this deal on trade night which gets us back in.
Worst case we give up a no 1,2 or 3 talent next year. BUT we could bring in another first rd talent this year with Daicos and the kids from last year.
NEXT year is where we would have a crack at existing FA.
Or we say Nick being best kid in the country this year plus a couple of speculative and keep our pick next year as draft or trade currency.

Saw something on AFL site: JDG in exchange for Pick 2 + Jake Riccardi.
I doubt we're going to trade JDG, but I would happily do it for a decent deal. He's getting old now, and I dislike everything about him except his occasional brilliance.
A related question, is there a precedent with clubs doing deals to prevent them picking players you want? Eg if we had pick 2 could we get North not to pick Daicos?

Na, have been liking him in the midfield and would hate to verse him and have him tear us apart because we aren't persistent. Rather trade off players such as Sier, Thomas and Lynch for some value.sherrife wrote:Saw something on AFL site: JDG in exchange for Pick 2 + Jake Riccardi.

Yeah but does it happen is my question...MJ23 wrote:^ ^yep believe it’s called Draft tampering.
Also if people think we're going to get picks in rounds 2 or 3 for Thomas, Cox and Sier, they're dreaming. Maybe Lynch might get us a 3rd rounder. I think Thomas stays because he's decent and worth nothing on the market, Cox goes just to save us money.

^^ Cox has always been a question mark for me. Yes he's only played a handful of really impactful games but our delivery into the forwardline is horrific. Would another club with a game plan that promotes good forward entry benefit from having Cox as he is basically unbeatable when he has the run at it.
