Paywall... what are we rumoured to be offering for Lipinski?

Dogs need picks for Darcy but I assume we're not giving any away as we need ours for Daicos

Brief summary would be better as we're not supposed to post entire paywalled articles here

I guess $850k technically qualifies as close to $1m but I would have expected "close to $900k" in that case

Of course happy if it is true

Pretty much what I posted is what is Said.

Nothing much else except that.

My Guess we almost Agreed on a Contract for Him and then we just have to work something out with the Dogs
Wouldn't it be more viable for the pies to go after Coleman-Jones rather than Lipinski? Can't get both.

The Pies are a long way down the line with Lipinski and are considered the favourites to win hs signature. Most industry people believe the Tigers will retain CCJ and that Mabior Chol is the one more likely to leave.

They actually have to. Especially first year.
Well perhaps they have to mathematically, in order to justify the cap payments.
Presuming this table does in fact have to be submitted to AFL for validation, the 2021 balance sheet may very well read:
J.Martin - $1,500,000.00
and the other players listed to comprise the remainder of total cap tally.

However, there is nothing to stop both player, manager and club settling on say $700,000.00 for 2021, behind closed doors?
That remaining balance of $800,000.00 would be swallowed up by players showing a lower wage [unders] on that 2021 spreadsheet.
Basically the same shenanigans that got us deep into the shit over the last few seasons, until we calculated ourselves into a corner.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the AFL has no authority to demand to investigate the bank accounts of players or their families?
Thus they would never know what any player was actually paid, in any given year?
I'm sure the ATO would have a record of the exact figures on group certificates etc, BUT doubting the AFL has access to that information either?

There's always ways around these scenarios; but it's when it all unravels down the track, like it did with us, that things become problematic...

I wonder if Sier would appeal to Sydney, they need someone cheap to replace Kennedy, they might roll the dice on him.

It’s understood out of contract Sydney mid Dylan Stephens is open to a move to Collingwood.

Essendon is circling, and much more keen than the Pies, after he impressed senior Bombers during a reserves game late in the season.

Adelaide is still in the frame.

Sydney must be really crunching the numbers and stalling for time, as they have made bugger all list changes since their season concluded.

I've got an eye on Ben Ronke, Lewis Taylor, and the long forgotten Sam Reid. We've been kicking Reid's name around for years to come here; if he goes in a fire sale, I reckon he's ours.

So if he is forced out of Pink ducks cap, do we take him?

He is probably a better bet for a year or two than Lynch [Crows DFA] or Jenkins [likely to be cut at Geebung].
If he spends half the season in the medical room, so be it. It will be cheap bargain get, without a warranty; buyer beware.

Going from Ben 'injuries" Reid to Sam "injuries" Reid. Jesus, it's like a music fan going from Spandau Ballet to Nickleback

$170,000 a year albeit annoying is far better than the reported $300,000
