Collingwood screwed by afl??
Apparently the pies have four "home" games at colonial next year. I am so sick of other teams, namely carlton, geelong and all the interstate clubs having a clear advantage with home ground, conditions and fans. The pies have struggled since leaving vic park in my opinion, sure they have been rebuilding and have gone through player changes, etc, etc, but there was nothing better than a hostile viccy park to absolutely crush opponents.
With a guarantee of 11 home games at ONE designated venue and a fully fit solid talented team we can and only then be a top 4 team.

Pain Jackson on 3AW this morning was saying that we shouldn't assume that any side will get four games at Colonial. This is because the draw is yet to be released, and he doesn't know why clubs are complaining at this stage. I believe that Richmond think that they will get four games their as well. They are not happy about it, just like the pies.

Jackson can complain all he likes (and, man, that is lot) but I will bet that we get screwed as ALWAYS. We will play when and where we are told while others ask and get what they want.
We will have the toughest draw again and we will have home games at Colonial. We will get two games against Carlton and Essendon with ANZAC day one of the Essondon games. The AFL will say that is giving us the world, but the truth is that, with new gate sharing arrangements, we will be subsidising the North v anyone else and similar games as we always do.
Same shit, different year.

I don't mind Colonial IF you can get a seat. But it's not just Collingwood the AFL screws with scheduling matches there, it's everyone including their members.
When they declared the Geelong match a "ticketed game" (as they do whenever they feel like it) they charged me $19 for a seat. As an AFL member, I should be able to just walk in. Apparently they also charged members for standing room!
I hate the AFL. I hate them with a passion!!!!
Colours are an illusion. There is only black and white.

Hey people arn't you forgeting that Collingwood have always wanted these "blockbuster" games ...every year? They want to play Richmond Carlton Essendon Hawthorn and it appears of the last few years that we also play North twice as well...money money money. That's the name of the game.Stiff if it makes life harder .Apparently it's great experience for the finals, whenever we get there.

orie, I think you missed the point re Colonial games. Anyway, the gate sharing arrangements will change and we won't get the money, money, money from the blockbusters. It will go to keep North, St.Kilda and the Bulldogs out of bankrupcy court - no matter how badly they manage their affairs and no matter what they pay their players.

Rohan - we ask for the blockbusters - they are hard, but they're good experience for a young team and we're not doing too bad - we'll at least break even next year in the 4 Essendon, Carlton games - but we don't ask to play at Colonial stadium, NOT our home ground, one which doesn't make money and doesn't fit our members. Make North play there - they have no members anyway - I say.
Collingwood are the most hated of clubs by the AFL, yet we make them the most money (gate receipts, merchandise, tv rights, the works)... how does that work!!??
Pies for Premiers 2002, 3, 4, 5, 6....
