Lockdown Karaoke

Post by stui magpie »

So, maybe it's time for a bit of Lockdown Karaoke?
Let's come up with a playlist of good lockdown songs, and feel free to add some Weird Al Yankovic twists.

Starting off:
Don't stand so close to me - The Police
The Prisoner - Iron Maiden
Shut Down - Australian Crawl
Shut Down - Beach Boys (different song)
Don't shut me down - ABBA (new song)
If I could walk 500 miles - The Proclaimers (aspirational)
Leaving on a Jet Plane - John Denver (also aspirational)

Then some Weird Al ones:
Better be Home Schooled - Crowded House. (obvious one)
The Final Lockdown - Europe (also obvious)

You're on Mute - John Farnham. Sung to the tune of "You're the Voice, chorus (for all those doing video calls while working from home goes...)
You're on mute
We can't understand you
Make a noise and make it clear
Whoa etc.

Lockdown Dan - Billy Joel

A parody of Uptown Girl, a work in progress. Opening lines so far go:
Lockdown Dan
Got us living in a locked down land
Our alternative is Matthew Guy
Bet Brett Sutton won't be calling by

Suggestions to the playlist please

How did I not list this before?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swT6YTPYwgM

"Without going out of my door, I can know all things on Earth,
Without looking out of my windiow, I can know the ways of Heaven.
The farther one travels, the less one knows - the less one really knows".

Go, George.

Only The Beatles or The Kinks could have tucked a masterpiece like this away as the "B" side of a single. In this case, the "A" side was Lady Madonna.

Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine!
