Woah, that's a slam

Not being able to hear the conversation doesn't help but nothing I can see condones that one.

Nothing jumps out at me except at least 3 of them seem to be left handed and the women aren't in uniform.
Yep 3 left handed cops, what are the odds on that given about only 10 % of the population are left handed.

Much more of this and "ACAB" is going to become bipartisan sentiment… (anyway, that cop is most definitely one)

The bloke he slammed will be missing more than 2 weeks. If he hasn't got a fractured skull or jaw and multiple missing teeth he's a very lucky boy.

If his name is Toby Greene he’ll get life, if it’s Joel Selwood he’ll get off

Apparently the cop who stomped a mentally ill mans head into the ground didn’t get punished so yeah you definitely can’t expect anything here.

He's been suspended while an investigation is conducted which is the appropriate thing to happen.

It is not an open and shut case and everything we need to know is not on the video.
The investigation needs to know background, context, how was he behaving in the moments/minutes prior to this, had he already been moved on before.

If the bloke who got slammed wants the cop charged with assault, he needs to make a complaint otherwise it won't happen.

Or he could sue the cop for assault, seeking, amongst other things, exemplary damages. That claim would be decided on the balance of probabilities. I'm quite confident of that which a jury would conclude on the balance of probabilities, here.

Violent wrongdoers benefit, routinely, from the criminal standard of proof. People who want to challenge these sorts of unacceptable behaviours need to think smarter.

Plus as shitty as it is, it’s part of the job. If you’re going to get that easily triggered that you overreact then maybe policing just isn’t for him.

At the same time I hope the investigation includes looking into their orders for the day. The cops were very clearly given free reign to do whatever they liked against the protesters and some clearly took it too far.

But if command is giving them too much leeway then some of the blame needs to fall back on them.
