The journalistic fraud that is Jon Ralph continues on Foxtel's Trading Day Program is concerned. After a great trade today all he and David King could do was use inflammatory and inaccurate words such as:

* decimated draft hand in 2022
* the 2020 trading out of 2021 first .... (debacle)
* delaying the pain
* shall cost them a star
* an extraordinary (current) situation

Fail to recognise that we snared pick 22 for this draft which most likely would be better than our 2022 2nd rounder plus we gain an extra 4th rounder this year and next year. Bloody pathetic. Don't be surprised we also replace the lost 3rd rounder for 2022 with trades for Lynch, Cox etc...

NEVER EVER do we use a second rounder in any deal for a steak knives valued player like Kreuger. Yes it's PTSD from Sam Murray deal

The only way to assess is to calculate all of 2020/21/22 draft and trades and weigh it all up then.

No doubt an important aspect of the strategy was to accumulate a young core group as quickly as possible.

We cleared the decks by hook or by crook, and reset in the 2020 draft. We traded out 2021 because it would have been wasted on a player who we can get using points, not position.

Anyway, that's our story. Ignore the goldfish, and let's see how the chapter ends after next year's national draft.

I’m tipping we go to the draft night with only one of picks 22 and 36.
Why burn both of them on Daicos points when you can do so much more with either one of those picks.
If it got tight for points without 22, we could either walk Lipinski or Krueger to the PSD OR make up any deficit with a late third rounder or two via trades for anyone of Lynch, Cox, Sier or ??

We've got a handful of players still waiting to see if they'll be retained or delisted.

We've got a few who might garner some mild interest from others and be traded.

Unlike last year we don't have the luxury of using an unlimited amount of picks to match any bid.

With much still be played out in terms of the makeup of our 2022 list I like that we've moved early this trade period to make sure we've already secured the points necessary should a bid come for Daicos at pick 1 and now have time on our side alongside the currency of a whole host of 2021 draft selections that can be used in negotiations for the players we're interested in and those Collingwood players of interest to others.

You sense we aren't finished yet.

If we get Nick for 1787 points (3rd) you've basically got the best player (3000 points) for over 40% off and plenty left over for Krueger, Lipinski, the mystery third player we are chasing, Dib and a couple of Hine Specials

Not bad for starting off with a packet of chips in the kitty

To be fair to the club, Sam Murray could have developed into one of the great running defenders of the competition if he had knuckled down.

It’s seems a stretch doesn’t it and ironically, any player who was traded for pick 22 ( just a relative example ) would be worthy of good money.
Cox seems the one who would free us up cap wise and also give us some additional points for even more draft flexibility.. Personally, if Lynch was to to go first, I don’t see them moving Cox on. It’s one or the other but Cox is by far, the bigger contract. I’m sure our trade activity isn’t over yet, so hopefully it proves to be worth waiting for.
