I wonder what superstar we missed out on at pick 41 in the draft ?
I’m sure David King will have the answer..

Let's not blow too much smoke up the young mans arse; if he can play 22 games next year it will be a win, if any at AFL a huge bonus

Well that can also apply to backup players for big forwards

If it works and I hope it does then Checkers plays the 2nd marking fwd as a go to
I'm sure I'll get flak but there you go. I'd be happy to trade Mihocek as we now have Kreuger , Johnston , Cameron and Will Kelly. Mihocheks last 4 games saw him basically possessionless in just about every first half, ends up kicking a couple when the opposition are resting up for next week and misses too many sitters for a key forward. He would have some currency, probably more than Cox and could get us back into next years draft. Although I'm not too sure who would take him.

I think Kreuger has played 2 AFL games (as a defender?).
Kelly has played 3 and averages 1.5 games a year (and might well end up in our back line).
Johnson's career at Collingwood consists of no AFL games, no VFL games and a SANFL highlights reel.
I'm not saying these guys won't develop into players, just that I wouldn't be so quick to trade Mihocek out.

Geelong 20.11 (131) defeated Coburg 7.12 (54)

Geelong smashed Coburg at home to the tune of 77 points. The Cats lead all day but it was the second quarter where the majority of the damage was done, with Geelong booting seven goals to one. Coburg’s task wasn’t made any easier with an injury to small forward Sam Lowson, who still managed to kick two goals. It was a day to remember for Nathan Krueger as he slammed home six majors while Blake Schlensog, Jake Tarca, and Jackson McLachlan all contributed three each. The latter also had 25 disposals in an impressive display, with Cats VFL coach Shane O’Bree comparing him to Tom Atkins.

It's nice to have some tall forward option on the list. None of them, including Kreuger seem destined to be superstars but at least with a full pre-season and new coaches we can see what happens.

Checkers was a backman in the VFL and has been our best tall forward the past few years, I'm happy with the recruitment and will happily wait to see what happens.

Bit harsh... Kicked 34.34 this year which could be better (JDG 23.23 also needs improvement) but still our leading goalkicker for the 3rd year running when he should be our 2nd or 3rd tall. Whole team went downhill in the last 3 games

As for getting back into next year's draft we still have our first rounder, which will almost surely be a Top 10 pick, and a lot of young players in the squad. Not sure how much more into it we really need to be at this point

Ive always seen checkers as a 3rd tall. Whether it really suits him or not remains to be seen but he has been playing undersized for 4 years as a key position player

Highlights package looks good. Way down the pecking order at Geelong. Hope he turns into a player. I didn’t think much of Cameron and he’s been serviceable. This guys highlights are way better so hoping he can improve on having Checkers as our number 1 forward.
