Victorian IBAC hearing

Post by stui magpie »

1st scalp, more to come?
Victorian Labor minister Luke Donnellan has resigned from Cabinet and will move to the backbench after being accused in public anti-corruption hearings of paying for other people's party memberships.

There's at least 2 simultaneous investigations going on, the one into Labor branch stacking started in open hearings today.

A couple of by elections at state and federal level would be interesting right about now, but luckily for the Victorian government their IBAC is pretty toothless so won't have any real consequences.

Now in the other one, if the allegation against Andy Meddick is true it's hard to see how he stays in parliament.

The idiots guide to branch stacking.

Albanese channeling Dan.
Labor leader Anthony Albanese will not order federal Labor MP Anthony Byrne to stand down or be expelled from the party, after the Victorian MP admitted yesterday to manipulating votes in that state's Labor branch.

But Dan says he always follows the rules. Except I guess when he can't recall what the rules were

Personally I'd be surprised if this inquiry achieves anything, I expect a lot of obfuscation and deflection.
