The roads will be chockers on Friday with people heading out of Melbourne.
Expect Chadstone will be a nightmare, worse than Christmas.

I'm OK with wearing a mask indoors but glad they are getting rid of the outdoor requirement - it is getting a bit hot when on my morning walk.

City and country Victoria will reunite under the same COVID-19 restrictions from Friday, the government has confirmed, and much greater freedoms will be granted once the state hits a 90 per cent vaccination milestone in late November.

The state is expected to hit a target of having 80 per cent of Victorians aged 16 and above fully vaccinated on Friday, October 29.

From 6pm on that date, the border around Melbourne will be dropped, allowing Victorians to travel anywhere in the state ahead of the Melbourne Cup weekend.

As outlined in the state's roadmap, masks will no longer be mandatory in outdoor settings where social distancing is possible and entertainment and retail venues can re-open from 6pm.

I'm going Saturday morning. The plan will be to take a leave day on Monday, have a 4 day weekend and work from there the rest of the week.

Charge up mum's mobility scooter and put that in the ute, she can do her own thing.

I went up last weekend, naughty I know, but I was going nuts. I didn't go out anywhere, I took food with me and stayed mostly at the house but damn it was good. I can't wait til the weekend.

Lowest number of new cases in almost three weeks (since we hit 1420 on 6 October), but given the reopening it seems reasonable to expect it'll be an outlier.

I don't want to sound like I should be playing chess with a knight - but it's also from just 57,000 tests and on a Monday (so Sunday's test results).

Some key positive stats from Covid Live.

Days til 90% fully vaccinated, NSW 8, Vic 13

Hospitalisations, NSW 474 and steadily decreasing, Vic 802, staying flat

Deaths per day, average from last 7 days, NSW 4, Vic 10. Neither of those numbers is exactly cause for celebration as it's still 14 people dead in the past week, but the positive is they are low numbers and not getting larger.

Yep. NSW +ve test rate is down to 0.41% while Vic is at 2.61% for the past 7 days.

it's quite intriguing watching what's happening with the numbers.
