<Split from the De Goey thread in GD and moved to VPT - the story referred to is, eg, here: https://www.theage.com.au/politics/vict ... 594pt.html Pies4Shaw for BBMods>

Perfect story for Murdoch and his papers.

Concentrate on this, and ignore the Dickhead ex Vic LP Dim Tim Smith and his drink driving accident.

The Murdoch Press literally has the Smith story as the headline banner story and have actually been updating the story every couple of hours with other stories on how the leader of the party is very pissed indeed and the DeGoey story is a side story several spots down the page. You might need a cup of cocoa and a long lie down old mate.

Who knew that keeping the LNP in lockdown was stopping shadow ministers from allegedly driving drunk?

Doesn't One Nation have an IQ test - like, don't their MPs have to be within a couple of standard deviations of nearly normal?

Embattled Liberal MP Tim Smith is refusing to quit State Parliament, defying Opposition Leader Matthew Guy who declared the member for Kew should not recontest next year’s election.

Mr Smith, who crashed his five-week-old Jaguar vehicle into a parked car before ploughing into the fence outside an eight-year-old child’s bedroom while driving more than 2½ times over the legal alcohol limit, has told several senior Liberal sources he believed he could weather the political storm and remain in Parliament.

...

Mr Smith was “upbeat” and “confident” in his conversations with colleagues, telling them, “the feds are backing me”, according to Liberal sources.

“He is delusional,” one Liberal frontbencher said.

Kew is full of Liberal Party members who can read and write and mostly drive sober. There's really no reason for them to have to persist with someone who is a liability.
